Transportation Engineer

We are seeking a licensed and experienced Transportation Engineer to join our growing team in the Blackfoot/Idaho Falls area. This role will focus on transportation planning, roadway design, and traffic impact analysis. The ideal candidate will have a strong background working with Departments of Transportation (DOT), municipalities, and private clients to develop

transportation solutions that are safe, efficient, and sustainable.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct Traffic Impact Studies (TIS), traffic signal warrant analyses, and intersection capacity evaluations.
  • Design roadways, intersections, and related transportation infrastructure in compliance with state and local standards.
  • Prepare and review transportation planning studies and reports.
  • Coordinate with state and local agencies (including DOT) for project approvals, permitting, and funding.
  • Prepare construction documents including plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
  • Analyze data related to traffic flow, safety, and congestion, and recommend design improvements.
  • Collaborate with civil engineering, land development, and planning teams to support multi-disciplinary projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Transportation Engineering.
  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in Idaho (or ability to obtain within 6 months).
  • 5+ years of experience in transportation engineering, traffic analysis, or roadway design.
  • Proficient in traffic analysis tools such as Synchro, VISSIM, or HCS.
  • Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or MicroStation.
  • Familiarity with AASHTO, MUTCD, and relevant DOT design standards.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience working with Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) is a plus.
