PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITION:
Working closely with Maintenance, the Controls Engineering Technician plays a key role in reducing cost and increasing capacity on the manufacturing lines by accelerating the development of our cutting-edge automation equipment and expediting the introduction of new findings into production processes.
MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

Troubleshooting and repairing automated systems in a high-volume manufacturing environment. Work with the automation and controls engineers to ensure proper machine functionality. -
Diagnose and solve root problems to ensure production flow is maintained. -
Work and resolve quality issues affecting product or manufacturing methods. -
Responsible for the electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic assembly of complex automation equipment using fabricated and purchased parts as well as bill of material provided by engineering. -
Support the design and implementation of automated manufacturing production lines. Integrate automated systems into new and existing manufacturing and assembly lines. -
Documentation of mechanical electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic alterations and additions to equipment at various stages. -
Work closely with the maintenance group beyond authoring PMI's, to collaboratively equip maintenance with the skills necessary to maintain factory equipment. -
Collect, maintain, analyze and interpret data to make decisions on project implementation. -
Use Lean techniques to perform process reviews and aid in establishing standardized work procedures. -
Work with operators, team leaders and value stream planners to optimize process center layouts and designs, incorporating material flow and line balancing to eliminate waste. -
Participate in continuous improvement and corrective action activities and provide ideas and feedback.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: -
High School diploma or G.E.D. -
2-year degree in Automation, Robotics or Engineering Preferred -
2 years engineering / technical experience in a manufacturing environment preferred -
Experience with Human Machine Interface (HMI), control systems, Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) (Rockwell, Siemens, Omron) and control components. -
Proven experience of strong trouble shooting and problem solving skills -
Experience or exposure to machining including but not limited to NC machine tools; mill, lathe, saws, grinding equipment as well as rigging, driving forklift, driving scissor lifts, and using pallet jacks. -
Proficient in reading mechanical drawings and electrical schematics including knowledge of redlining schematics for updates. -
Proficient in wiring electrical control panels or equipment remote actuators and inputs and outputs as well plumbing equipment, pneumatic or/and hydraulic lines. -
Experience in characterizing and validating new equipment and fixtures capability, repeatability and capacity prior to introduction to the production floor. -
No corrective actions or performance improvement plans within six (6) months of the job posting opening date. -
No decision making leaves within 12 months of the job posting opening date. -
Most recent performance rating of achieves or higher. -
Successfully completed six (6) months in current job bid classification OR current career advancement classification.

Ability to troubleshoot, problem solve, diagnose machine faults or minor issues and communicate challenges of automated equipment including PLC troubleshooting or programming equipment (Allen Bradley, Siemens) and Robotics troubleshooting or programming (ABB, Fanuc). -
Ability to show initiative, be a self-starter and be able to work with little to no supervision. -
Able to work under pressure while managing competing demands and tight deadlines. -
Ability to learn quickly and adapt to rapidly changing business circumstances; must be able to thrive in a constantly changing business environment. -
Excellent written and oral communication skills. -
Ability to use computer programs including AutoCAD, Solid Works, MS Office, MRP (JD Edwards preferred), etc. -
Ability to document processes in work instructions format -
Ability to plan, select, test, install and maintain equipment and other types of systems. -
Capable to open and edit electrical or fluid schematics using AutoCad software. -
Working knowledge of DC/AC electrical systems. -
Ability to purchase made-to-spec parts and assemblies from a variety of local vendors via PO's. -
Knowledge in Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement.
Pay Transparency nVent's pay scale is based on the expected range of base pay for this job and the employee's work location. Employee pay within this range will be based on a combination of factors including knowledge, skills, abilities, experience, education, and performance. Where federal, state, or local minimum wage requirements exist, employee pay will comply. Compensation Range: $23.91-$44.42 WE HAVE:

Compensation Range: $23.90 - $44.40 Per Hour
