What you will do

The Value Steam Manager conducts the production activities of manufacturing organizations to optimize resource use, minimize costs and maintain quality standards.

Activities include planning, managing and reviewing production operations to achieve output and quality objectives; monitoring expenditures and forecasting resource inputs; and operating, monitoring and maintaining production equipment.

Overall responsibility for a single manufacturing facility or leadership inclusive of multiple manufacturing facilities. Strategic direction and operational execution of all aspects of production activity of the manufacturing footprint or at the assigned plant to ensure that the desired quantities and quality of products are manufactured on schedule in a safe manner at minimum cost. Coordinates all activities related to production, such as maintenance, quality control, and engineering, following the policies established by senior management, in accordance to schedules, quantities, quality and costs. Is also responsible for the plant support areas.

How you will do it

  • Leads, directs, and controls the day-to-day activities of designated value streams to achieve the short and medium-term financial and operating objectives and KPIs set by the overall organization business plan.

  • Directs the production of designated valued streams and manages the most difficult problems involving the manufacturing process.

  • Measures the results of the manufacture of products in planned quantities, at budgeted cost, and of desired quality to meet customer expectations.

  • Leads departmental goal development and continuous improvement.

  • Executes human resource strategies by determining accountabilities; communicating and enforcing values, policies, and procedures; implementing recruitment, selection, orientation, training, coaching, counseling, disciplinary, and communication programs; planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing job contributions; reviewing compensation strategies.

  • Maximizes production by developing production schedules, organizing change-overs, and developing and scheduling preventive maintenance.

  • Keeps materials available by scheduling, monitoring, and adjusting deliveries and insures inventory transactions and accuracy are maintained. Coaches leads and supervisors to maintain inventory accuracy.

  • Delivers customer-acceptable products by enforcing quality standards and maintaining good manufacturing practices (GMP).

  • Improves quality production results by studying, evaluating, and re-designing processes, and implementing changes.

  • Facilitates transformational projects with cross functional team members to maximize production activity.

  • Prepares plant information and reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends.

Other responsibilities (EHS)
Comply with the following Environmental, Health and Safety duties as a condition of employment:

  • Comply with EHS rules.

  • Lead the work area with a safe culture mindset.

  • Support employees in their decision to shut down unsafe or environmentally damaging equipment or processes.

  • Ensure completion of EHS training by all Employees.

  • Participate actively in the safety process.

  • Initiate an investigation on all accidents and injuries immediately.

  • Submit suggestions to improve EHS and take action on suggestions submitted by employees.

  • Act as emergency management coordinator for meeting locations and shelter areas. Initiate accountability in the event of an emergency. (i.e. what to do in the event of an alarm for fire, chemical spills, tornados, etc.)

  • Be a coach to others who are acting unsafely.

  • Ensure the completion of all hazardous and non-hazardous waste trainings.

  • Ability to recognize deficiencies in chemical labeling.

  • Coordination in minor spill management and clean-up.

  • Capability to enforce satellite accumulation rules and requirements.

  • Proficiency to recognize hazardous wastes in your area and manage properly.

What you will need
Must have a HS Diploma or equivalent, university degree preferred. Assignments are defined in terms of activities needed to achieve objectives. May accomplish results through the management of a team of professionals or as a subject matter expert individual contributor. Work is reviewed upon completion for adequacy in meeting objectives. Interprets and administers policies, processes, and procedures.
