Position description

The School of Education (SOE) at the University of California, Davis, invites applications for a tenure-track open rank position in the area of higher education. We seek applicants who bring critical insights on higher education research through the use of innovative approaches. We are especially interested in scholars who focus on postsecondary educational leadership, student affairs/student development, or organizational behavior.

Responsibilities: Conducting and maintaining a productive program of higher education research; seeking extramural support for research and graduate student support; teaching graduate and undergraduate courses (e.g., in person, online, hybrid, and some weekends); providing mentorship and research guidance to master's and doctoral (EdD and PhD) students; and serving on School and University committees.

The School of Education of Education serves four programs: an undergraduate minor, credential and master's in teacher education, PhD, and the Capital Area North Doctorate in Educational Leadership (CANDEL) EdD program. The School of Education offers five Ph.D. emphasis areas, including Language, Literacy, and Culture; Learning and Mind Sciences, Mathematics Education, Science and Agricultural Education, and School Organization and Educational Policy. In addition, we are home to six centers and various research projects.

Qualifications
Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

* Must have, or be close to completing, an earned doctorate in Higher Education, Education, or a related field

Additional qualifications (required at time of start)

* Demonstrate an innovative research agenda utilizing higher education frameworks with potential for extramural funding;

* Provide evidence of an enduring commitment to inclusive excellence in alignment with the mission of the School of Education in their research, teaching, and service

* Have the ability to teach graduate seminars and large undergraduate courses on higher education within the School of Education's programs

Preferred qualifications (other preferred, but not required, qualifications for the position)

* Experience teaching and/or advising students in different programs (undergraduate, MA, PhD, and EdD) and in various modalities (in-person face-to-face, online, hybrid)

* Demonstrate evidence of effective teaching through evaluations or other artifacts

* Experience working in higher education and/or across institutional contexts, such as community colleges, MSIs, or comprehensive and research institutions

* Demonstrate ability to collaborate or build partnerships across disciplines, institutions, and/or community organizations
