Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Patient Service Assistant- Full Time, Evenings - Hemodialysis-Main St - Full-Time - 4:30PM-12:30AM, Alternating Saturdays.

In this role, the successful candidate Performs environmental cleaning functions. Transports needed supplies, blood samples, documents, and other items required to and from the hospital.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Environmental cleaning of (but not limited to) patient care area, nurses' station, conference room, kitchen, offices, lobby, supply rooms, bathrooms and technical areas.
  • Ensures that all garbage cans are emptied after each patient turnover and taken to garbage area outside. Closes lids after changing bags.
  • Ensures that all linen bags are emptied after each patient turnover and taken to used linen storage area.
  • Wears appropriate protective clothing and eye protection when working with potentially contaminated items
  • Wears gloves appropriately for protection and washes hands before and glove use.
  • Assists in receiving and putting supplies away using the principle of rotating stock
  • Flattens cardboard cartons and places neatly in compactor
  • Neatly stacks delivery pallets along fence on east side of parking lot
  • Buffs all tiled and linoleum areas as needed to maintain shine
  • Determines with nurses in all 4 pods if other items need to be transported at the same time
  • Transports blood to laboratory in appropriate container as first stop in hospital
  • Brings blood tubes to the laboratory receiving area and notifies laboratory personnel that the blood tubes have arrived
  • During each trip, rounds to the following areas to determine if any items are to be brought back to the chronic unit: (but not limited to) Laboratory, Central Supply, Pharmacy, and the Acute Dialysis Unit.
  • Upon return to the chronic unit, notifies nursing staff of any medications, supplies or documents which have been brought back
  • Checks PSA assignment/trip list @ front desk to ensure all trips are accounted for & understands where to go, for what reason etc.
  • Maintains record of reason for the trip & that you have completed the task.
  • Notifies Nurse Manager or designee if number of trips is excessive for the shift/day
  • Checks entire car for contents before & after entering/leaving the car.
  • Ensures that the laboratory cooler lid is secure before transporting.

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a High school diploma or equivalency
Ability to read and comprehend written policies and procedures
Must possess New York State Driver's license
Must be able to provide own transportation
Ability to move, stand and walk for up to 90% of work time when performing general cleaning duties & responsibilities of the position.
Interpersonal skills necessary to be courteous to patients and staff when performing housekeeping duties
Ability to push and pull carts of housekeeping supplies weighing up to 50 pounds for up to 80% of work time.

The salary range for the role is $45,346.08 - $45,346.08 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
