MHS is seeking an Agriculturalist to support the Assistant Director & Land Coordinator of MHS's Agricultural and Environmental Education (AEE) Program in the planning, coordinating, and implementing of all aspects of cropping systems associated with a diverse, 1500-acre agricultural enterprise that exists to uphold MHS's agricultural heritage and provide authentic agricultural educational experiences for its students. This position also supports the purchasing, operation, and maintenance of agricultural equipment.

This position pays between $25.57 and $34.13 per hour, plus a benefits package.

Responsibilities include:

  • Providing support for the management of pastures, orchards, and crop fields including planting, fertilizing, and harvesting.

  • Operating and maintaining farming equipment, technical scientific equipment & software.

  • Contributing to the upkeep of agricultural school resources including buildings, animals, etc.

  • Ensuring consistent application of land management practices and cropping systems that minimize negative environmental impacts.

  • Maintaining records including crop records, financials, research studies, etc.

  • Supporting student educational experiences including school day experiences, after-school activities, and summer experiences.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED.

  • Five or more years of experience farming including broad exposure to cropping systems, equipment procurement and use, pesticide application, and farm management.

  • Valid driver's license and Class B CDL license, both in good standing.

  • Pesticide applicator's license, agronomic crops.

  • Proficient in safely using farm equipment and affiliated machinery.

  • Demonstrated skills in record-keeping and fiscal oversight.

  • Strong organizational skills and adaptability.

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills including the ability to effectively communicate & collaborate.

  • Must be comfortable working outdoors for extended time periods in inclement weather.

  • Candidates must demonstrate a high degree of integrity as all staff are role models for students.

  • Candidates should be eager to actively engage with students beyond the scope of their job description.
