Sub-System Functional Design Engineer

The Sub-System Functional Design engineer will be a leader for the sub-system design within the Mechatronic (mechanical+electrical+software) department. Areas include Cabin, Access, Cabin Commands, and Visibility depending on candidate background. The functional design engineer will be responsible for evaluating the needs of the customers (what do they want from sub-system/vehicle) and transforming those into a comprehensive sub-system design with requirements (how does the sub-system achieve what they want) which will direct component development teams on what their parts should do to support the system - all while improving costs and quality through efficient design. The functional design engineer will also support validation teams in development of validation plans of the subsystem based on the sub-system requirements.

Basic Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related degree field
  • 3 or more years in Automotive engineering
  • Experience in electrical, mechanical, or mechatronics systems development, integration, and/or release
  • Automotive development process knowledge (Concept to Vehicle Launch - full development V)
  • Electro-mechanical system knowledge (ECU, mechanical, electrical, and software)
  • Self-starter / highly motivated
  • Excellent communication skills (presentations, leading meetings, etc.)
  • Ability to coordinate with stakeholders from various backgrounds (vehicle development, marketing, component owners, etc.) to achieve a well-designed system as a team


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Master's degree in Engineering
  • ECU hardware development (DVP, Environmental, EMC)
  • Automotive software release
  • Diagnostics
  • Network
  • Functional Objectives (CFO, VF)
  • HMI (button, radio, messaging)
  • System/vehicle level integration and validation
  • Stellantis development process knowledge (Sync Releases, X1, X2, etc)
  • CATIA/Enovia experience
