Facilities Manager Position Overview

The Facilities Manager serves as the single point of contact responsible for comprehensive facilities management operations. Working closely with the Regional Manager and Corporate Real Estate team, this role ensures the delivery of exceptional facility management services while maintaining the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and client satisfaction. The position requires 24/7 accountability for assigned building operations and the coordination of all tenant requirements and service delivery.

Key Responsibilities Facility Operations Management
  • Serve as the single point of accountability for efficient and timely execution of all facility processes with 24/7 responsibility for assigned building
  • Drive performance against client Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and ensure measurable results
  • Resolve facility management issues on-site with appropriate escalation protocols
  • Manage operating expense budgets including preparation of monthly variance reports
  • Initiate and manage purchase order requests for goods and services within area of responsibility
Team Leadership & Vendor Management
  • Lead and manage diverse facility teams including custodians, technicians, groundskeepers, and external contractors
  • Manage subcontractors and suppliers to deliver goods and services according to contract specifications and performance expectations
  • Collaborate with Regional Manager to oversee maintenance and repair service delivery
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and provide ongoing coaching and development
Safety & Compliance
  • Establish and maintain a safety-first culture through promotion of safe work practices, timely training, and recognition programs
  • Implement safety tools including Take 2s, Pre-Task Plans (STA), Safe Operating Practices, Safety Observation tours, and Incident Investigations (5 Whys)
  • Ensure regulatory and standard safety requirements are implemented and maintained
  • Drive safety culture adoption across portfolio including subcontractors, suppliers, and visitors
Client & Stakeholder Relations
  • Ensure exceptional client satisfaction with facility management service delivery
  • Monitor and actively work to increase customer satisfaction metrics
  • Serve as primary point of contact with site occupants, property management, and landlords
  • Conduct informational tenant meetings as required
  • Support client Emergency Response and Evacuation plan coordination
Environmental & Energy Management
  • Participate in Energy and Environmental meetings with appropriate follow-up on identified issues
  • Support sustainability initiatives and environmental compliance requirements
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Leadership Experience: Proven ability to lead, motivate, and manage diverse teams in a facilities environment
  • Facilities Management Knowledge: Demonstrated understanding of facility operations, maintenance, and building systems
  • Budget Management: Experience managing operating expense budgets and financial reporting
  • Safety Management: Knowledge of safety protocols, regulatory compliance, and safety culture development
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and decision-making skills with ability to resolve complex facility issues
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication abilities for stakeholder management
  • Customer Service: Strong customer service orientation with focus on client satisfaction
  • Project Management: Ability to deliver results within established timelines and manage multiple priorities
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or related field
  • Certifications: Relevant facilities management certifications (CFM, SFP, FMP, or similar)
  • Industry Experience: 3-5 years of facilities management experience in commercial real estate
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with CMMS software, Microsoft Office Suite, and facilities management systems
  • Vendor Management: Experience managing service contracts and vendor relationships
  • Emergency Management: Experience with emergency response planning and business continuity
  • Energy Management: Knowledge of energy efficiency programs and environmental sustainability practices
  • Multi-site Experience: Experience managing multiple facilities or large portfolio operations

Location: onsite at General Motors CCA

Compensation: $80-90,000 + 10% target bonus

Estimated compensation for this position:

80,000.00 - 95,000.00 USD per year

This range is an estimate and actual compensation may differ. Final compensation packages are determined by various considerations including but not limited to candidate qualifications, location, market conditions, and internal considerations.
