HDR's Mobility and Operational Technology Services (MOTS) is seeking a Senior Technology Management Consultant to join our growing technology team focused upon the areas of Tolling, Congestion Pricing, Managed Lanes, Connected & Automated Vehicles, Smart Mobility, Intelligent Transportation Systems, and Zero Emissions. The primary responsibilities are to lead innovative technology projects for enhancing mobility, improving performance, and reducing congestion on surface transportation systems. You will provide key subject matter expertise in tolling, road pricing, managed lanes, and freeway management applications. Responsibilities will include technology research and consulting services, advising and engaging clients, performing data analyses and documenting results, and facilitating strategic planning efforts to enhance client operations, partnerships, and business management. The successful candidate will also assist in growing HDR's technology business in coordination with area and regional leadership, and be responsible for leading the development of scopes, schedules, and budgets for the delivery of technology related projects. In the role of Senior Technology Management Consultant, we'll count on you to:
Serve as a strategic expert with recognized authority in tolling, road pricing, managed lanes, and freeway management that resolves problems of great scope and complexity. Provide project management and/or task management for tolling, road pricing, managed lanes, and freeway management oriented projects and tasks. Plan, organize and supervise work of staff of professionals and technicians as needed to deliver tasks and projects. Support project-specific, general engineering, general tolling, and/or program management contracts for tolling, road pricing, managed lanes, and freeway management related work elements. Conduct research and development for technologies and processes facilitating contemporary and emerging technologies. Prepare and/or perform technical review of technology-oriented freeway management applications, including planning studies, systems engineering analyses, concepts of operations, and implementation plans. Develop work products such as technical documents or reports, PowerPoint presentations, Visio diagrams, and Excel models. Assist with the development of local HDR office transportation programs and serve as a technical expert nationally. Supervise mid-level and junior level staff and support their development and growth. Interact with clients, sustaining and enhancing HDR's reputation for quality, expertise, and service. Demonstrate nationally recognized expertise and thought leadership through industry engagements, publications, and other means. Facilitate workshops and forums among clients and their partner organizations toward strategic outcomes. Assist with the development of practice areas related to congestion management applications and technology adoption. Identify opportunities and develop relationships with clients to win work and earn revenue. Lead and champion pursuits to win contracts and tasks, including pre-positioning, gathering pursuit resources, writing and reviewing proposals, and development of pricing. Perform other duties as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in planning, Public Administration, Public Policy, Civil Engineering, Systems Engineering, Business, Management, or related fields. 5 years of experience in the tolling, traffic management, and/or surface transportation technology industry Experience working with multiple state departments of transportation, metropolitan planning organizations, and tolling agencies. Involvement in professional organizations in the tolling and transportation technology field such as IBTTA, TRB and/or ITS America
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in Business Administration or closely related field
- A minimum of 10 years consulting experience and extensive related expertise
- Proficiency with MS Office products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Access and Outlook
- Excellent interpersonal skills and strong relationship, organizational and follow-up skills
