Description We're hiring an Entry-Level Linux Systems Engineer to support the IT and Cyber Security Division at the Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division (NAWCWD) in China Lake, CA. This role is part of the ELSYS Task Order under the Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI), embedded within the TGS team. This is a great opportunity for someone with foundational Linux experience who is looking to grow their skills in a secure, mission-driven environment. You'll work alongside experienced engineers to help modernize lab infrastructure and support ongoing cybersecurity efforts. Key Responsibilities: Assist with building and maintaining Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) systems (versions 7-9) Support basic system configuration, patching, and software installation Help automate tasks using tools like Ansible Work with network-attached storage (NAS) and integrate Linux systems into Windows domains Apply security updates and assist with system hardening to meet DoD standards Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to ensure systems meet compliance requirements Contribute to documentation and support audit readiness Participate in team meetings and knowledge sharing Skills Support, Troubleshooting, linux, linux red hat, Install, Windows Additional Skills & Qualifications Qualifications: Some hands-on experience with RHEL or other Linux distributions Familiarity with basic system administration tasks (user management, patching, etc.) Interest in cybersecurity and secure system configurations Willingness to learn tools like Ansible and work in a DoD-compliant environment Ability to work onsite at China Lake Active Secret Clearance required Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $38.40 - $40.00/hr.
