  • The manufacturing facility is located within a business park, spanning 14 acres and totaling 165,000 square feet, with over 200 employees.

What you will do:

You will lead a team of 5 Supervisors and oversee approximately 110 assembly operators. You will manage all day-to-day assembly operations required to produce Air Handler Units at our plant. Your responsibilities include driving continuous improvement initiatives on the shop floor using lean manufacturing principles, coordinating activities across Assembly, Painting, and Shipping departments, and ensuring production goals are achieved efficiently and cost-effectively. You will partner with supervisory staff to meet key performance metrics such as productivity and on-time delivery, while coaching and mentoring team leaders to enhance employee performance and foster a culture of operational excellence.

How you will do it:

  • Allocate and manage resources (manpower, equipment and materials) to optimize production output with respect to delivery, quality and cost.

  • Lead teams in achieving goals in safety, quality, cost, delivery, and other plant goals.

  • Manage shifts by effectively utilizing supervisors and their resources.

  • Coordinate activities of various departments and/or shifts to ensure that all areas are working on the appropriate tasks.

  • Develop strategic operating, capital, and other plans to improve effectiveness of operation.

  • Adjust plant capacity to meet customer demand.

  • Work with team to develop and implement materials management strategy (make/buy, Kanban/MRP, master scheduling time fences, inventory levels, vendor stocking).

  • Maintain effective working relationships and communication with all departments and see to the professional development of all assigned personnel.

  • Lead large capital projects from conception to completion.

  • Establish budgets and operating targets.

  • Participate in Product Team meetings to help effectively improve the product line performance.

  • Analyze operational performance and develop priorities for improvements.

  • Responsible for all aspects of shop floor management in assigned areas.

  • Assure that safe work practices are followed.

  • Assist in relevant Johnson Controls Manufacturing Systems (JCMS) action items/activities as they pertain to your knowledge/skill set and technical ability.

  • Responsible for driving Safety Performance in the Plant to achieve and maintain Gold Status (Goal of No Recordable/ No Lost Times).

  • Ensure Safety Training is completed as required for direct reports.

  • Responsible for performing two (2) Behavior Based Safety Observations monthly.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What we look for

Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree (Engineering or Business background) and/or relevant work experience

  • Five (5) to ten (10) years of manufacturing experience

  • Previous experience managing management-level staff

  • Strong background in Lean Manufacturing as well as other training in formal problem solving and operational analysis

  • Must be able to communicate with superiors, peers and subordinates in a professional manner

  • Demonstrate initiative and willingness to seek out improvements through the use of Lean Manufacturing tools

  • Develop plans that meet a variety of goals simultaneously and be able to change these plans as business conditions change and utilize analysis tools to determine opportunities for improvement.

  • Must be willing to work additional hours and varied working hours to effectively manage people across all shifts

  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access)

  • The employee is occasionally required to lift up to 50 pounds

Preferred:

  • Previous HVAC experience

  • Experienced with SAP or other MRP system

HIRING SALARY RANGE: $100,000 - 134,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, location and alignment with market data).
