The City of Renton is looking for park enthusiasts to fill our Parks Maintenance Assistant positions within the Parks and Trails Division of the Parks and Recreation Department. The successful candidates will enjoy working outside in all types of weather, be team-oriented, willing to learn, capable of using different kinds of equipment, and provide excellent customer service.
The schedule can vary depending on the assignment and may include weekend and evening shifts. The scheduled shifts include 5/8's, 9/80's, and 4/10's with varying days off.

Prepare parks for daily use including, but not limited to, picking up litter, trash, garbage, branches and other obstructions from City property; restock restrooms; cleaning picnic areas, play and park equipment, benches, tables and barbecues.
Operate a variety of grounds maintenance equipment and tools such as sod cutters, pruners, rotary hand mowers, backpack blowers, edgers, line trimmers and park vehicles; clean and perform light maintenance on equipment and tools.
Perform a variety of grounds maintenance work in the following areas: athletic fields, trees, shrubs, flowers beds, and turfed landscape areas.

Recruitment Process: The screening process will include a review of minimum qualifications and applicants selected for an interview will be invited via email to self-schedule a time through the Government Jobs account. At minimum, this position will be subject to a standard criminal background check and professional reference check. This position requires driving and is also subject to a driving record check from the WA State Dept of Licensing (or other state equivalent). Driving records will be evaluated based on a points system depending on the infraction and severity.
