Pharmacy Technician Apprentice

Responsibilities are moderately technical or complex and have a high degree of responsibility and judgment. Must demonstrate excellent customer service, strong organizational skills, ability to work in a professional environment. Ability to work with and communicate effectively to direct activities to other students employees. Requires significant amount of specialized training or experience. Represent the department and the university with the highest degree of integrity applying OSU mission and shared values.

Scope of Position

Under the direction of a pharmacist and in coordination with other technicians, the Pharmacy Technician Apprentice is responsible for packaging, preparation, and distribution of medications, inventory control, customer service and maintaining pharmacy records.. The Technician must comply with all rules and regulations of the hospital and pharmacy department. Must maintain registration with Ohio State Board of Pharmacy as Pharmacy Technician Trainee through an Ohio Public High School Approved Pharmacy Technician Training Program.

Position Summary

This position functions to assist the licensed pharmacist in providing pharmaceutical services to patients and necessary services and information to nursing and medical staff. These services include preparation and packaging of medications; distribution of medications, supplies, and equipment; maintaining proper inventory levels; ensuring medications are in date and secure; and keeping appropriate records and documentation.

Minimum Qualifications

For Hire: Registration with Ohio State Board of Pharmacy as Pharmacy Technician Trainee through an Ohio Public High School Approved Pharmacy Technician Training Program. Must be at least 17 years of age.
