BASIC PURPOSE This position is responsible for assisting the Corps Officer(s) in ensuring administrative and office related duties of the Eureka Corps Community Center are implemented efficiently by providing general support to all corps and office operations. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide office support, including but not limited to answering and responding to telephone calls, routine correspondence tasks, organizing and maintaining file systems, keeping all files locked and treated as confidential and facilitate opportunities for and participation in training for volunteers and employees as required by The Salvation Army.
- Coordinate and process volunteers, including locating, paperwork, scheduling, orienting, supervising, and thanking them.
- Assist in planning and running events to benefit The Salvation Army and surrounding community.
- Maintain inventory of building and resources.
- Assist in building maintenance as required, including organizing records and ordering supplies.
- Open and close office as requested by Corps Officer.
- Receive and record all statistics pertaining both to the Corps and Social Service programs and input them into the Turbo Stats program.
- Maintain records of corps vehicles, including mileage logs.
- Assist with counting, financial processing, and depositing of fund from Red Kettle program as needed.
- Attend community events as assigned by Corps Officer, either as an observer or representative (as directed by CO).
- Other related duties as assigned by supervisor.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma or equivalent; some higher education preferred.
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Publisher, etc.) and email software (Lotus Notes preferred).
- Ability to speak and write the English language with professional level skill is required.
- Ability to draft and edit professional level communications.
- Must possess good organizational skills, including multi-tasking and time management.
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality of sensitive materials and information.
- Ability to work with a minimum of supervision and be prepared to encounter a variety of assignments and timelines.
- Ability to interact with coworkers and all members of the public in a positive manner.
- Ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds and circumstances.
- Must possess a valid California Class C Driver License and ability to drive a Salvation Army vehicle
- Must complete the Salvation Army vehicle course training
- Must be 21 years of age or older to drive a Salvation Army vehicle
- Must provide consent to a Motor Vehicle Report (MVR).
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- This is often a sedentary position which requires the ability to remain at a keyboard for up to two hours without interruption.
- Ability to operate a keyboard is essential.
- Must also be able to bend, stoop, grasp, and lift up to 20 pounds to maintain file records.
- To perform this job successfully, all essential duties must be able to be performed with or without accommodation.
- Ability to operate a telephone.
- Ability to lift/move up to 25 lbs.
- Ability to process written, visual, and/or verbal information
- Ability to operate basic office equipment and tools
