The above reflects the anticipated hourly wage range for this position if hired to work in New Jersey.

The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.

Job Overview:

The position will meet the operational needs of the surgery patient by organizing, receiving and properly storing and delivering surgical instruments, consumable supplies and equipment to the OR Suites quickly and accurately. Position will support an integrated, virtual SPD/ Sterile Core/ Materials Management function in the operating room. Functions in the OR setting under the direct supervision of the SPD Manager/Director. Anticipates the surgeons' needs and expedites the procedure. Competent and applies specialized experience in various surgical procedures, aseptic technique, flash sterilization and knowledge of supplies and instrumentation. Familiar with and utilizes the surgeons' preferences and written routines. Checks and assures the operative suite and equipment meet standards of care. Maintains inventory & procurement systems as developed and directed by Materials Management and Perioperative Services.
Ability to track and keep par levels for OR specific items as well as PBDS packs needed in the Operating Room. Is responsible for reporting identified safety issues such as hazardous environment, (damaged floors/walls/ceiling tiles/unsecured areas) and medical errors, incorrect counts or medication errors

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High School Diploma or equiv.
  • Graduate of a Sterile Processing program
  • Current CRCST Certification
  • BLS through the American Heart Association

Preferred:

  • 2 years of current experience in a hospital setting

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Full-Time
  • Day Shift
  • 40 hours per week

Essential Functions:

  • Assists associates in completion of their duties and functions as a cooperative active member of the health care team
  • Assists in overall department completion of tasks
  • Assists in properly transporting and transferring patients
  • Demonstrates the ability to organize and prioritize assigned workload
  • Maintains the appropriate working condition of equipment cleaning checking and stocking of machines and carts.
  • Provides adequate supplies through Materials Management orders
  • Provides adequate syringes and IV solutions
  • Stores and distributes supplies appropriately and accurately selects appropriate instruments, equipment and supplies for anesthetic use.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned
