In support of facilitating CBIZ's role of a trusted advisor, this individual will provide investment advisory services to a block of defined contribution clients and contribute to back-office process and projects specific to defined contribution initiatives Essential Functions and Primary Duties: Responsibilities (Client Facing)
- Act as a prudent fiduciary/co-fiduciary to defined contribution plans and plan sponsors regarding the selection, monitoring, and replacement of investment options
- Demonstrate an understanding of DOL and ERISA best practices
- Articulate macro-economic trends and current events along with their potential impacts to plan investments.
- Review and recommend modifications to the Investment Policy Statement based on needs of the Plan Sponsor to ensure compliance and consistency
- Pace industry developments specific to defined contribution investment developments and be able to articulate to clients
- Provide general client service and problem resolution services
- Prepare investment related agenda items and content for client meetings
- Deliver presentation of investment reviews with clients
- Work with service team on investment review action items/follow ups
- Perform investment assessment and analysis for the entry and removal of select fund lists
- Produce reports using investment software programs
- Assist with client requests for proposals for plan recordkeepers/vendors
- Provide individual and global investment advice to plan participants as needed in conjunction with Retirement Plan Education Specialist
- Additional responsibilities as assigned
Responsibilities (Back Office)
- Assist with investment solution development and maintenance, including but not limited to discretionary products and client deliverables
- Assist with asset class coverage as needed
- Assist with client reporting
- Participate in research and asset allocation conversations
- Participate in the development of new business presentations and evaluations
- Author periodic white papers and/or case studies
- Additional responsibilities as assigned
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, mathematics or other areas that contain strong analytical course content
- CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst), CIMA (Certified Investment Management Analyst)
- Prior plan advisory and/or recordkeeper experience
Minimum Qualifications Required:
- High School Diploma or GED
- At least three years of professional, retirement plan investment advisory experience in a 401(k) and/or 403(b) environment
- Possesses comprehensive knowledge of industry and professional concepts, principles, practices and procedures
- Possesses comprehensive knowledge of pertinent laws, regulations and professional standards
- Proficient use of applicable technology
- Proficient use of MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and enterprise communication and travel solutions (Concur, Skype)
- Experience performing work that requires initiative and leadership skills
- Series 6 license, plus any other licenses as required by law
- Pursuing at least one of the following: CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst), CPFA (Certified Plan Fiduciary Advisory), CIMA (Certified Investment Management Analyst) or other approved credentials or those required by law
- Ability to anticipate and elicit customer needs
- Ability to self-learn and develop business and technical knowledge quickly
- Motivated team player with demonstrated interpersonal skills
- Comfortable working with quick turnaround times and deadlines
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with individuals at all levels of the organization
