Job Description

SUMMARY

This Co-Op position supports both Facilities Engineering and Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) initiatives. The role is designed to provide hands-on experience in lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, and EHS compliance. The student will assist with operational studies, 6S audits, safety program enhancements, and environmental compliance efforts across the facility.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include:

  • Conduct operational studies and engineering analysis for facilities and EHS projects
  • Assist in lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Participate in and conduct 6S audits to identify areas for improvement
  • Support EHS programs including PPE reviews, job risk analysis, and safety meetings
  • Help manage Benchmark Gensuite EHS digital platform for compliance tracking
  • Assist with hazardous materials handling and waste stream processing
  • Review and refine emergency response procedures and OSHA training programs
  • Investigate accidents and injuries to develop corrective actions
  • Coordinate with vendors and consultants for Facilities and EHS projects
  • Take ownership of assigned projects and drive them to completion
  • Collect and analyze data to support 6S and EHS improvements
  • Attend training sessions and educational opportunities as needed

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, 6S methodology, and EHS principles
  • Familiarity with OSHA, EPA, NFPA, ANSI, and NEC regulations desired
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access
  • US Citizen or Permanent Resident

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Full-time student pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Industrial and Systems, Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical or Aerospace Engineering.
