Student Involvement

Job Description

The Student Involvement & Traditions Coordinator plays a key role in fostering a vibrant and connected campus community at Missouri S&T. This position is responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating year-round programs and initiatives that promote student involvement, strengthen belonging, and celebrate Miner pride. In addition to supporting signature events such as St. Pat's, Homecoming, and Opening Week, the coordinator will develop new programs and experiences that encourage student participation, leadership, and connection across the university.

Reporting to the Director of Student Involvement, the coordinator works closely with students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community partners to create meaningful engagement opportunities. Flexibility to work evenings and weekends is required to support major events and programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the planning and execution of signature traditions and campus events, including St. Pat's and Homecoming; and support the planning of implementation fo Welcome Week and Opening Week and other Student Involvement led events
  • Design and implement year-round engagement initiatives that foster student connection, involvement and leadership development
  • Collaborate with student organizations, committees, and campus partners to support student-led programming and enhance campus community
  • Develop strategies to engage alumni and other stakeholders in campus traditions and ongoing student programming
  • Manage event logistics, including budgets, contracts, vendor relationships, and compliance with university policies
  • Assess and document programs and events to inform continuous improvement and ensure historical preservation of campus traditions
  • Support departmental and divisional initiatives, contributing to the Office of Student Involvement's strategic goals
  • Serve on committees, participate in staff meetings, and engage in professional development opportunities to strengthen campus engagement practices
  • Other duties as assigned
Shift

M-F 8:00AM-4:30PM, some nights and weekends required

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in higher education, student affairs, event management or a related field
  • At least one year of experience in event planning, student activities or related programming
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Abilitiy to work collaboratively with students and campus partners
  • Availability of working evenings and weekends as required
Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in higher education administration, student affairs or related field
  • Experience advising student organizations or coordinating large-scale campus traditions
  • Familiarity with Missouri S&T traditions and culture
  • Demonstrated experience in leadership development, student engagement, and program assessment
  • Commitment to fostering meaningful student experiences
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities with attention to detail
Anticipated Hiring Range

The anticipated hiring range for this position has been established as $18.87 to $23.00 hourly.

Salary is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the individual's particular combination of education, skills, and experience, as well as organizational requirements.
