Department Overview: The UC San Diego Labor Center strengthens and expands the labor movement through advanced research, education, and strategic partnerships with workers, labor organizations, policymakers, tribal organizations, and the broader San Diego region. The Labor Center places the wellbeing of workers, their families, and their communities at the forefront of their curricula, community engagement, public programs and publications. The Labor Center focuses attention on the unique socio-economic circumstances of the border region, including large binational and refugee communities and Indigenous nations in the region. Their research offers innovative policy perspectives on work and workers while their worker-centered approach advances the goals of fair working conditions, living wages, and climate, gender, and racial justice. Position Overview: The UC San Diego Labor Center is seeking a dedicated and motivated candidate to serve as the Program Coordinator/Organizer for our San Diego office and worker center project. This position will be instrumental in supporting programmatic and outreach efforts out of the San Diego office by helping to support the coordination of outreach events, implementing programs, and building strong organizational relationships within the community and with labor organizations. Under the direction of the Center's Executive Director, the incumbent will: identify community needs and help develop and deliver innovative programs that support worker interests and organizational goals; including providing support with planning, execution, and evaluation of programs and initiatives that support workers and the community; organize, promote, and facilitate outreach events aimed at educating workers about their rights, resources, and available services; collaborate with community partners to enhance event effectiveness and reach; and maintain accurate records of activities and participation, prepare reports for internal and external stakeholders. Additionally, the incumbent will be expected to develop and maintain positive, productive working relationships with community organizations, labor unions, and key stakeholders, as well as engage with workers and community members to mobilize support for labor rights and related social justice issues. Implement organizing strategies that empower workers and promote collective action. In summary the incumbent will 1) use professional community educational program concepts to deliver and enhance standardized educational programs and volunteer educational programs as needed; 2) analyze program content and delivery needs to determine effectiveness of current programs and identify underrepresented constituencies in the community; and 3) participate in recruitment and outreach activities for assigned program.  Pay Transparency Act Annual Full Pay Range: $51,000 - $84,800 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%) Hourly Equivalent: $24.43 - $40.61 Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
