What You'll Do

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Storage Manager specializing in NetBackup and IBM Backup Solutions to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and support of our enterprise-level data protection infrastructure utilizing Veritas NetBackup and IBM Spectrum Protect (formerly Tivoli Storage Manager - TSM). This role requires a strong understanding of storage technologies, backup and recovery methodologies, and a commitment to ensuring data integrity and availability in a highly secure environment. The engineer will work closely with system administrators, network engineers, and other IT professionals to deliver robust and reliable data protection solutions in support of critical Army systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and support the organization's local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), Internet systems, or network segments, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and security.
  • Monitor and maintain network availability to all system users, performing necessary maintenance, modeling, analysis, planning, and coordination between network and data communications hardware and software.
  • Monitor and test website and system performance to ensure continuous, uninterrupted operation.
  • Administer network security measures and, when applicable, supervise computer user support and network support specialists.
  • Manage and maintain enterprise storage systems, including SAN, NAS, and DAS environments.
  • Monitor, optimize, and tune storage performance and capacity, including performance tuning, capacity planning, and configuration optimization to ensure efficient and reliable operation.
  • Implement and manage backup and recovery strategies to protect data integrity and availability.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve storage-related issues promptly, collaborating with IT teams to plan and execute storage upgrades, migrations, and configuration improvements.
  • Conduct regular audits of storage systems to ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and internal standards.
  • Maintain RedHat operating systems and storage cluster software, hardware, and firmware.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience; candidates with Armed Forces college courses or Associate Degrees, extensive certification, and additional experience are highly encouraged to apply.
  • Experience with HPC systems, including Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)/CentOS operating systems (OS) and Intel central processing units (CPU)
  • 8570.01M/ IAT-II
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance.

Preferred Experience

  • Proficient in managing storage systems such as EMC, NetApp, and IBM
  • Strong knowledge of SAN and NAS technologies
  • Experience with storage virtualization and data deduplication
  • Skilled in troubleshooting storage issues and performance tuning
  • Familiar with backup and disaster recovery solutions
  • Ability to automate storage tasks using scripting languages
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Certified in storage technologies such as EMC Storage Administrator (EMCSA) and NetApp Certified Data Administrator (NCDA)
