OVERVIEW

The District Manager plays a key role in driving the success of General Mills' Pet segment by maximizing incremental sales and expanding new pet households. This role focuses on delivering exceptional in-store execution through selling, merchandising, and building strong customer relationships. Additionally, the Distract Manager will educate Store Partners and Pet Parents on pet nutrition across a designated geographic area within the Pet Specialty channel, including major retailers such as PetSmart and Petco

Territory supported: NYC/NY/NJ/CT, with most stores in NYC/NJ. Candidates within a 2-hour driving distance will be considered.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

SELLING EXPERTISE & INFLUENTIAL COMMUNICATION

  • Maximize incremental sales and product displays by focusing on key categories with district/store-level decision makers
  • Achieve geographic sales goals by demonstrating superior sales, negotiation, and communication skills
  • Build and nurture relationships with district/store-level partners to offer continuous support.
  • Educate on pet nutrition through impactful district/store-level presentations, direct store partner interactions, and Pet Parent Conversions

PROBLEM SOLVING & ANALYTICS

  • Identify growth opportunities by analyzing district/store-level performance
  • Conduct business reviews with customers to evaluate sales results and uncover future growth opportunities
  • Leverage Salesforce to track daily activities and route planning to drive efficiencies

EXECUTIONAL EXCELLENCE

  • Take personal accountability for results and develop a deep understanding of customer needs to drive success
  • Develop a deep understanding of General Mills Pet products, pet categories, and brand priorities to effectively align them with store opportunities.
  • Provide valuable market insights from the district/store-level to management
  • Successfully execute the role priorities by delivering results-driven retail coverage

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must live within assigned geography
  • Able to travel daily, drive up to 4 hours per day or more, 20% overnight travel
  • Passion to sell/represent General Mills and our Pet segment
  • At least 2 years of relevant or transferable experience
  • Ability to adapt and learn new technology and tools
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with internal and external partners, including facilitating presentations
  • Strong problem-solving, analytic, influencing, and negotiation skills
  • Ability to work with a high degree of independence
  • Proficient ability to use tablets (i.e. iPad) and Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Valid driver's license, and satisfactory driving record

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to move a minimum of 20 pounds, using appropriate techniques and safety rules
  • Extended periods of movement and occasional ladder use within the aisle

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Pet enthusiast with passion for General Mills Pet products
  • Industry experience in sales, customer-facing sales, or other relevant experience
  • Ability to build relationships with key decision-makers across an organization
  • Bachelor's Degree

ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS

  • International relocation or international remote working arrangements (outside of the US) will not be considered.

Salary Range



The salary range for this position is $64800.00 - $89300.00 / Annually. At General Mills we strive for each employee's pay at any point in their career to reflect their experiences performance and skills for their current role. The salary range for this role represents the numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, educations, skills, work experience, certifications, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.
