Summary


The SHE Intern supports Dunmore's Safety, Health, and Environmental programs by assisting with safety audits, compliance initiatives, data collection, and training activities. This position provides hands-on experience in a roll-to-roll plastic film manufacturing environment, focusing on hazard identification, environmental compliance, and continuous improvement. The intern will collaborate with multiple teams including operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to promote a safe and compliant workplace.



Essential Duties and Responsibilities



  • Assist with safety inspections, audits, and Gemba walks to identify unsafe conditions and behaviors.


  • Aid in industrial hygiene monitoring activities such as noise or air sampling.


  • Participate in incident investigations, contributing to root cause analysis and corrective action tracking.


  • Support emergency preparedness programs, including evacuation drills and first aid training coordination.


  • Assist with development of safety training material for employees.


  • Provide general support for environmental compliance reporting, including waste, emissions, and recycling data.


  • Collect and organize environmental and sustainability data related to air emissions, energy use, waste generation, and recycling programs.


  • Other duties as needed or required.

Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities:



  • Strong organizational and communication skills.


  • Ability to conduct field observations and interact with employees at all levels.


  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)


  • Analytical and detail-oriented with an interest in problem-solving and continuous improvement.


  • Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.



Education and Experience




  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's program in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.



Physical Demands - OFFICE / TRAVEL




  • Standing/Sitting: 70% sitting, 30% standing or walking for inspections and audits


  • Walking/Bending/Stooping: 30% for inspections and audits


  • Lifting Requirements: Up to 25 pounds occasionally


  • Travel by air, rail, auto (% of time): Minimal travel (less than 10%) between Dunmore facilities.


  • Work in manufacturing area, QA lab and office areas


  • Exposures - Odors, Fumes, Noise, Chemicals, Temperature, Vision strain, Moving parts.
