Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent and 5 years of professional experience
Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience using OneUSG Connect and UGA Financials
  • Experience managing budgets, processing transactions, and performing general ledger accounting tasks with USG/UGA systems

Position Summary
The Senior Business Manager provides leadership and direction to their assigned team. The Senior serves as the point of contact for the assigned units, ensuring business and personnel needs are met.
In addition, this role provides financial support to scientists in assigned departments. The role will be responsible for proper routing and budgeting of new employees, allocation and signoffs on P-Card transactions, and maintaining accurate records of all financial transactions. Further, the successful business manager will work closely with departmental and college staff to ensure that all personnel are properly budgeted and that monthly payroll is submitted on time. Finally, the person will work with faculty to close out accounts before project completions on restricted accounts or at the end of the fiscal year on state accounts.

Accounting & Payroll

  • Perform weekly accounting allocations and validations and process adjustments relating to GL journals, budget transfers, AP vouchers, EDR's, etc.
  • Approve travel, payment requests, journals, and purchase orders.
  • Review payroll for accuracy and process on a bi-weekly/monthly basis.

  • Supervises assigned staff; directs work and special projects; monitors workload and productivity; evaluates performance and makes recommendations; promotes staff training and development; provides assistance in analyzing and resolving complex issues

  • Serves as liaison between the assigned unit, CAES business staff on Griffin and Athens campuses, and other central university offices

  • Produce monthly status reports on all funds and distribute to faculty; notify faculty when projects are ending, and work with CAES C&G for the closeout process
  • Analyze budget expenditures for compliance with approved budget, research problems, and handles accordingly
  • Ensure proper internal controls are in place for all applicable fiscal functions
