GENERAL FUNCTION

EyeMed's Payment Integrity Analytics team delivers high-impact analytical insights and solutions that improve claim accuracy, ensure system integrity, and drive cost containment and fraud prevention initiatives. The team leverages analytical and statistical methods, process automation, and data-driven problem solving to identify and resolve system configuration issues and payment discrepancies, detect anomalies in claim submission and payment patterns, uncover process improvement opportunities, and support strategic decision-making across the organization.

The internship program will expose students to a complex, real-world managed care data environment. Interns will assist with analytics projects and support continuous improvement while gaining valuable experience with a range of analytical tools, methods, and concepts.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Assists with the design, execution, and documentation of analytical processes and solutions that support ongoing payment integrity efforts.
  • Executes existing queries, scripts, and workflows as scheduled and as needed, ensuring that quality controls are monitored and met.
  • Performs exploratory analysis and basic statistical evaluation to identify data integrity issues, anomalies, actionable trends, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Partners with team members to investigate issues, identify root causes, and assess potential financial or operational impacts.
  • Contributes to continuous improvement initiatives aimed at increasing efficiency, accuracy, and scalability of analytical processes.



BASIC QUALIFICATIONS



  • Seeking a degree in an analytical field such as Business Analytics, Data Science, Economics, Statistics, Health Informatics, or a related discipline.
  • Available for the full 10-week program, 40 hours per week.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. required on the first day of employment.
  • Strong balance of business, analytics, and technology acumen.
  • Superior communication, critical thinking, teamwork, and project management skills.
  • High level of accountability, motivation, learning agility, and attention to detail.
  • Experience with sourcing, cleansing, integrating, and analyzing data.
  • Experience with Excel, SQL, and R/RStudio.



PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS



  • Previous internship or work experience in analytics or related functions.
  • Leadership roles on campus and/or community involvement.
  • Participation in group projects that require teamwork and contribution to shared goals.
  • Coursework emphasizing critical thinking, quantitative reasoning, and communication.
  • Familiarity with reproducible analysis, statistical modeling techniques, and automation.


Employee pay is determined by multiple factors, including geography, experience, qualifications, skills and local minimum wage requirements. In addition, you may also be offered a competitive bonus and/or commission plan, which complements a first-class total rewards package.
