GENERAL NATURE OF POSITION
The Psychology Department at San Jose State University is involved in collaborative research efforts with civil service scientists from the Technology Development Directorate (TDD) Research Group at the NASA Ames Research Center in Mountain View, CA. The research is centered on several exciting new programs aimed at future vertical lift (FVL) rotorcraft systems and autonomous resupply capabilities development. We seek a short-term Senior Research Associate who will provide project management for archiving and dispositioning technical documents and the Concept Design and Assessment (CD&A) library database.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Work with CD&A to organize and document library materials, propose new techniques to improve organization and productivity, and create a searchable database for digital records.
2. Upload technical documents to Defense Technical Information Center (DTIC) if the materials do not exist already.
3. Evaluate and maintain existing research materials.
4. Collaborate with research team in knowledge of materials and locations.
5.Build and manage a record of drafted drawings and technical diagrams.
6. Disposition unused technical material in accordance with appropriate material classification.
7. Assist in disposition of awards, property, and material as needed.

8. Other duties as assigned.

INTERPERSONAL CONTACTS
Reports to the Project Director. Interacts with Foundation research staff and civil service staff on a daily basis.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree required in STEM, English, Business Administration, or related field.

  • Education in the following areas: Project Management

  • Experience with CD&A library, library scanning software such as M3 Library, and project management is highly desired.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work both as a member of a team and independently as required.

  • Strong organization, time management, and problem-solving skills.

Physical Requirements

  • Located at the NASA Ames Research Center. Therefore, this employee must meet security qualifications for entrance to the Center.

  • Candidate will be a US citizen.

  • Working onsite is required a minimum of three days per week.

  • Frequent and ongoing use of a computer terminal to conduct a variety of clerical functions and communications.

  • Periodic, regular, and/or occasional contact with employees of the Research Foundation at all levels, San Jose State University faculty and staff, and/or vendors, with the ability to discuss and appropriately respond to inquiries and requests.

  • Work with time constraints and under pressure.

  • Regular lifting, walking, and carrying of files, documents and other related materials.

  • Strength, dexterity, and coordination and/or ability to use a computer keyboard and read a video display terminal on a regular basis.

  • Ability to listen to verbal requests from customers, clients, and vendors, and to respond appropriately.

Complexity of Duties

  • Exercise independent judgment in the management and completion of assigned tasks.

Compensation Range:

$80,000-110,000 annually, DOQ/E
*The position is a one-year appointment
