https://libraries.uark.edu/ Summary of Job Duties:The OEDPS Graduate Assistant is located in the Open Education, Data and Publishing Services Department. OEDPS supports the objectives of open access, open education, open data and open publishing with scholarly communication, open textbooks, and collections of materials created by members of University of Arkansas community. This position primarily assists with activities supporting accessibility of our collections for persons with disabilities. This position also supports the department by providing regular statistical reports, developing user dashboards, and editing guides and other outreach materials. The incumbent would assist the department in producing the open journal, Inquiry. The candidate provide patron assistance with data and research tools and methods; and work on special projects as assigned in support of open access. Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Enrollment in the Graduate Schoolat the University of Arkansas

  • Applicants whose native language is not English must demonstrate competency in spoken English by submitting a passing test score

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Enrollment in one of the following departments: communication, journalism, computer science

  • Experience in teaching or one-on-one coaching

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Competency in using Adobe Acrobat and InDesign

  • Experience in manipulating data via spreadsheets

  • Competency in one or more of the following: Unix, Git/Github, Jupyter Notebooks, Python, R, or Markdown

  • Familiarity with research habits and processes in an academic, business, or industrial setting

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment, with diverse populations, and a variety of information resources
