About This Position

The primary responsibility of the Hardware Asset Technician (HAT) is to repair proprietary equipment for reuse.

The Hardware Asset Technician (HAT) plays a critical role in restoring and preparing proprietary equipment for redeployment. This position focuses on the hands-on repair and refurbishment of devices such as vending machines, point-of-sale kiosks, and various hardware components. Technicians will assemble, configure, and test a wide range of equipment-including networking gear, printers, currency acceptors, credit card readers, vending machines and thin client systems-to ensure optimal performance for reuse across our customer base. What You'll Need:

  • High-school diploma or better; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience for the following

    • Mechanical
    • IT hardware knowledge
    • Work in warehouse environment
    • Use general PC software. (i.e. Microsoft office programs)
    • Knowledge of basic electronics, computer concepts, and the internet
    • General understanding of how computers connect to networks/servers
    • Hardware troubleshooting experience (server, motherboards, hard drives, discs, printers, scanners, kiosks, etc.)
    • Multi-task oriented
    • Effective written and verbal communication skills
    • Time management skills
    • Ability to work individually or within a team environment
    • Ability to anticipate/identify hardware problems/needs and repair with an appropriate solution
    • Micro - electronics knowledge

Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities

  • Excellent communication with helpdesk, warehouse and project stakeholders
  • Diagnose, test, and repair - Examples of equipment: servers, client computers, various printer models, various scanning peripherals, monitors, vending machines, networking equipment, and other IT equipment located within Jails and Prisons.
  • Document all findings of used equipment.
  • Get warrantied equipment repaired, i.e. Dell.
  • Update inventory system as necessary.
  • IT hardware knowledge
  • Work with Service Desk team on preventative maintenance.
  • Willingness to learn new equipment and components and our product offerings evolve.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Associate degree or 2 years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of educate and experience.
  • Perform work under general supervision.
  • Handle moderately complex issues and problems, and refers more complex issues to higher level for further assistance.
  • Possess solid working knowledge of subject matter.
  • Use general PC software. (i.e. Microsoft office programs).
  • Knowledge of basic electronics, computer concepts, and the internet.
  • General understanding of how computers connect to networks/servers.
  • Hardware troubleshooting experience (server, motherboards, hard drives, discs, printers, scanners, kiosks, etc.).
