Position Summary
The Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences, CBH division, is seeking an Administrative Assistant I to provide administrative assistance for a project dedicated to improving behavioral health services and systems across NM. Duties include: assist with project logistics, procurement, meeting and travel planning, supplies and materials preparation. This position will regularly work with multidisciplinary teams; manage complex scheduling and will develop positive relationships with internal and external agencies and stakeholders. This position will work closely with clinical and non-clinical partners and will assist with implementation and meeting facilitation.

The qualified candidate should have in-depth knowledge of and experience with: basic administrative duties; RedCap, Zoom, Adobe Creative Programs and Smartsheet; strong familiarity with public health, public policy and behavioral health issues, and human services-related programs; culturally competent and able to work within diverse communities; establishing and maintaining positive community relationships; scheduling meetings and events and administrative functions. The desired candidate for this high-energy position is professional and customer service-oriented; efficient; and able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
This is an on-call position and is not eligible for benefits. This position will work in-office several days a week and may require limited travel within New Mexico.

Conditions of Employment
  • If this position is assigned to the Athletics Department, either administratively or functionally, compliance with all NCAA rules and regulations is required.
  • Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University's influenza vaccination requirement.
  • If located at the UNM Children's Campus, successful candidate must pass a comprehensive post-offer, pre-employment criminal and New Mexico Children, Youth and Families Department (CYFD) fingerprint background check, and a continued successful status will be verified by periodic future background checks.
  • All regular, non-temporary positions assigned to this classification are represented by a labor union and subject to the terms and conditions of the CWA Collective Bargaining Agreement.


Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 1 year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.



Preferred Qualifications
* Academic or work experience with public health, public policy or in a behavioral health field
* Demonstrated administrative experience
* Experience with data collection and database management
* Demonstrated customer service experience and experience providing hands-on technical support
* Experience with RedCap, Access, Excel, Zoom and Smartsheet- knowledgeable, quick and adept in learning software and systems
