The Research Fellow will contribute to a computational social science research agenda focused on analyzing online expressions and interactions. Core responsibilities include assisting with the design and refinement of prompts for LLM-based classification tasks, running and modifying established machine-learning scripts, conducting API-based data collection from designated social media platforms, and performing targeted statistical analyses (e.g., descriptive modeling, regression, or time-series analysis) in R or Python.

Required qualifications include MS or above in communication or media studies, with at least four years of research experiences and having demonstrated training and research in computational or quantitative methods. Candidates must have prior publication experience (such as lead-authored journal articles or conference presentations) and a clear research interest related to technology, social media, or political communication. Familiarity with social media data analysis is required, as is proficiency in advanced R or Python for statistical analysis. Preference will be given to applicants whose research examines how emerging technologies (e.g., AI systems, algorithmic platforms, or social media) shape democratic communication around contentious or polarizing issues.
