Hamilton Associates is looking for a Supply Chain Manager to join our team.
Reporting to the Director of Supply Chain, the Supply Chain Manager is responsible for creating and executing procurement plans for materials and services, maintaining strong supplier relationships, and ensuring optimal quality and cost efficiency. Primary responsibilities include contract negotiation, supplier performance evaluation, supply chain management, and cross-departmental collaboration to achieve organizational goals.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Builds and maintains strong relationships with suppliers, and implement processes for their development and performance management.
- Negotiates pricing, terms, and conditions with assigned suppliers and ensure effective implementation of finalized contracts.
- Properly plans material purchases to prevent stock outs, maintains the ERP system with lead time information.
- Develops, implements and/or utilizes standard methods for Requests for Proposals (RFPs), Requests for Information (RFIs), and Vendor Requests for Quotes (RFQs); negotiates effective and competitive supply agreements which protect the interests of Hamilton and it's subsidiaries.
- Issues purchase orders to support our manufacturing and engineering departments; tracks and expedites as necessary to ensure timely delivery.
- Tracks supplier performance to ensure requirements for quality, service, and cost are met as well as proactively identifies and manages risks to prevent supply chain disruptions. Provides input to a vendor scorecard system and monitors and communicates vendor performance through the system.
- Stays up to date on commodity prices to better understand risks and opportunities with regards to raw material costs.
- Participates in strategic sourcing projects around cost optimization.
- Collaborates with other departments to close operational gaps, participates in team projects (departmental or interdepartmental as needed).
- Participates in Hamilton's Material Review Board to properly disposition nonconforming material and ensure the company receives all material credits/refunds.
- Identifies and communicates supply chain opportunities/issues/recommendations for resolutions.
- Reconciles P.O. and invoice/receiving discrepancies. Investigates root cause of discrepancies and recommend corrective action to avoid reoccurrence of issues and communicates with Accounts Payable on invoice resolution regarding pricing/quantity discrepancies.
- Operates in accordance with ISO procedures.
- Participates in the Engineering Change Order process.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Background and Skills Required:
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain or a related discipline.
- 5 to 7 years' of purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated passion for Lean / Continuous Improvement or the desire to learn Lean.
- Customer focused and process oriented.
- Possesses a solid understanding of supply chain management, logistics and relevant software.
- Ability to learn and become proficient in Hamilton's ERP system.
- Proficient in data entry and Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Ability to identify, analyze and resolve problems by utilizing critical thinking to determine root cause and determine corrective action.
- Ability to perform financial analysis/cost control and risk management data analysis.
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
- Ability to effectively prioritize daily and weekly activities and discern the need to adjust priorities.
- Ability to demonstrate strong initiative and consistently perform with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate, in a positive manner, with all levels of colleagues (including sales, engineering, production, quality and engineering groups) and vendors.
Additional Background and Skills Preferred:
- Masters or advanced degree in business or supply chain management.
- Experience in a mechanical or electronics-based manufacturing environment.
- Experience in purchasing electronic components such as printed circuit board (PCBs) for example.
- Experience in a Lean-based manufacturing environment.
- Experience working with INFOR ERP tools (Cloud Suite Industrial or Visual).
- Professional supply chain related certifications.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
- This is an in-office position with occasional ability to work a hybrid schedule
- Our business hours are Monday to Friday 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM
- Relocation is not offered at this time
- Mostly sedentary work sitting/standing up to 85% of the time, walking in the manufacturing facility 15% of the time.
- Communicates verbally in-person, over the phone and through e-mail up to 80% of the time.
- Visually inspects drawings to accurately order parts and examines vendor parts in-person and on the computer.
- Regularly uses the computer, performs repetitive wrist motion.
- Climbs ladders to assist in inventory and cycle counts up to 10% of the time.
- Lifts up to 35 to 50 lbs.
