Senior Process Engineer, Ceramic Powders

In this position you will play a critical role in driving operational excellence at our Strongsville Plant, reporting directly to the Operations Manager for Ceramic Powders and Shapes. This innovative and technically skilled individual is responsible for optimizing and overseeing the manufacturing processes for high-purity powders that serve diverse, cutting-edge industries. The role requires partnering with cross-functional teams-including production, maintenance, quality, finance, technology, commercial, EHS, and supply chain-to ensure the delivery of superior products in a safe, efficient, and cost-effective manner.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership, engineering expertise, and excellent communication in support of Safety, Quality, Productivity, Delivery, and Organizational Development initiatives.

  • Daily support on the shop floor and troubleshooting any equipment issues in collaboration with team leaders and maintenance technicians.

  • Ensure the sustainability of stable operations and assist in fostering a Continuous Improvement culture through leadership, training and collaboration with internal and external resources.

  • Lead identification, mitigation, and elimination of safety exposures.

  • Ensure EHS compliance with process and equipment and identify improvement opportunities.

  • Establish, update, and maintain production procedures, process control data, and quality test data. Audit plant activities to ensure compliance.

  • Collect and analyze process and production data to identify trends and ensure process stability & process reliability through statistical analysis. Ensure product quality through analysis of incoming raw materials, in-process testing, and final product certification.

  • Drive continuous improvement in areas of safety, product quality, product delivery, and product cost through the analysis of plant data and collaboration with Operations and Maintenance personnel.

  • Facilitate problem solving (root cause analysis) and lead the corrective actions through collaboration with Operations, Maintenance, and other support teams.

  • Drive resolution of customer claims in a timely manner and reduce repeat claims to improve the total customer experience.

  • Reduce product lead time via the implementation of Lean Manufacturing concepts on the production line.

  • Interact with vendors as needed for routine process upgrades.

  • Assist Technology team in the development of new products and processes.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering - Chemical, Ceramic or Material Science

  • 5 years of experience in Process Engineering in a manufacturing environment

  • Exhibits a sense of urgency that translates to the floor

  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot equipment issues with cross functional teams

  • Strong analytical expertise coupled with excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills to all levels

  • Root Cause Analysis

  • Statistical Analysis and Interpretation

  • Demonstrated team contribution and leadership skills

  • A track record of leading Continuous Improvement efforts with demonstrated sustained outcomes.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in a full-time Process Engineering role in a high temperature chemical process

  • Demonstrated mechanical engineering aptitude

  • Prior experience mentoring and coaching others with demonstrated change management skills

  • Energetic self-starter with strong leadership skills

  • Deliver on commitments: proven track record of sustainable performance

  • Proficient in: Minitab software; Allen Bradley Factory Talk

  • Project Management and Leadership.

  • Green belt or Black Belt certification; Statistical Design of Experiments experience
