Job Summary

The Student Health Clinics is currently seeking a Temporary Registered Nurse to join their team of professionals.

Duties include:

  • Performs patient intake by utilizing medical history-taking interview methods and patient assessments and collects vital signs. Establishes a compassionate environment by providing emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients.
  • Evaluates triage patients' needs and determines their level of acuity. Distributes patients as needed based on that assessment to the appropriate clinician. Provides treatment of problems and provides health information within his/her capacity as a Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Conducts Florida law required controls for Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) waived laboratory tests and performs laboratory testing by phlebotomy and in-house labs methods.
  • Authorizes and delegates ordering for operations such as pharmacy, equipment, patient education materials, microscopy and laboratory supplies and office supplies.
  • Explains, prepares, and conducts minor procedures within the RNs' scope of practice and collaborates with other healthcare providers to give specialized care. Obtains informed consent and administers prescribed treatments.
  • Assists in the maintenance of infection control following Student Health Services guidelines. Maintains safe and clean working environment.
  • Educates patients and suggests preventive health services corresponding to their needs. Promotes patients' independence by establishing patient care goals, answering questions and teaching patients to understand their condition, medications, and self-care skills.
  • Adheres to and enforces infection control and safety standards including OSHA regulations.
  • Provides nursing care according to the physician's orders, in compliance with recognized nursing standards with State and Federal Regulations. Administers oral and injectable medications as authorized by providers.
  • Performs-related duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Licensed as a registered nurse in accordance with Chapter 464, Florida Statutes, or eligible to practice nursing in accordance with Section 210, Florida Administrative Code.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and across all sites (BBC and MMC) as needed.
