| Position Summary |
UNC Family Medicine is searching for a temporary research assistant (RA) to join one of the many research projects in the department. This position will support a residency training project funded by
HRSA that aims to develop and enhance didactic curricula and training experiences for Family Medicine learners to provide high-quality, accessible care to individuals with limited English proficiency (
LEP) and those with disability.
The RA will work closely with the project evaluator, Dr. Sapna Varkey, and support all project faculty and staff to create data collection tools, monitor data collection, assist with data analysis, conduct literature reviews, prepare manuscripts for submission, and assist with
IRB submissions and amendments. The RA will also help with administrative duties such as support the project manager in preparing grant reports, coordinate grant team meetings, attend meetings and take meeting minutes. In addition, the RA will have an opportunity to contribute to writing up findings, including presentations for professional organizations and manuscripts for peer reviewed journals. The RA will work up to 15 hours per week. |
| Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
Bachelor's degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. |
| Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
* Strong organizational and communication skills, including the ability to give and incorporate feedback from team members
* Ability to monitor project timelines closely and respond to immediate needs as they arise
* Experience and comfort building and maintaining survey data in Qualtrics
* Experience with managing and cleaning quantitative data
* Experience attending multi-stakeholder group meetings and taking meeting minutes
* Excellent writing skills: experience writing for professional audiences preferred
* Experience being a part of an education or social science research team, with experience in maintaining the confidentiality of research data |
| Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
Course work in public health, social work, education, psychology, social sciences, and/or anthropology is preferred but not required. |
