POSITION PURPOSE

The Director of Finished Goods Warehousing & Inventory is responsible for establishing and executing warehouse best practices that meet or exceed organizational goals for safety, quality, cost, service, and culture. This role provides both strategic and hands-on leadership for all Finished Goods (FG) warehouse and distribution operations, with full accountability for On-Time, In-Full (OTIF) performance and inventory accuracy.

The Director leads daily and long-term operations through a multi-layered team of warehouse managers, assistant managers, supervisors, non-exempt employees, and union associates. This position is responsible for driving continuous improvement initiatives, ensuring disciplined execution, and scaling warehouse operations to support business growth.

The role owns end-to-end FG inventory management and distribution execution across the Finished Goods Warehouse, Stage Warehouse, and Finished Goods Distribution Centers. The Director regularly communicates warehouse and distribution performance to leadership, including budget performance, key metrics, project status, and improvement initiatives, while actively fostering a culture of accountability, engagement, and high performance.

Essential Functions & Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership & Operations Excellence



  • Establish, standardize, and execute best-in-class Finished Goods (FG) warehousing and inventory strategies aligned with company objectives for safety, quality, cost, service, and culture.
  • Serve as the senior operational owner for FG inventory flow, storage, staging, and outbound distribution across Finished Goods Warehouses, and FG Distribution Centers.
  • Design scalable operating models that support business growth, peak demand, and network complexity.
  • Represent warehouse operations in site leadership meetings, enterprise initiatives, and cross-functional forums.


Finished Goods Warehouse Operations & Inventory Management



  • Direct all FG warehousing activities, including receiving, put-away, locating, staging, picking, and shipping.
  • Ensure world-class FG inventory accuracy through disciplined cycle counting, root cause investigations, and preventative corrective actions reflected accurately in the ERP system.
  • Maintain accountability for shipment accuracy and customer service performance, including On-Time, In-Full (OTIF) delivery.
  • Confirm proper operation of temperature monitoring and environmental controls to protect finished goods quality.


Leadership, Culture & Talent Development



  • Build, lead, and mentor a multi-layered warehouse organization including managers, assistant managers, supervisors, non-exempt employees, and union associates.
  • Establish clear performance expectations and accountability frameworks while fostering a culture of safety, ownership, and continuous improvement.
  • Conduct performance reviews, manage corrective action processes, and ensure consistent application of disciplinary procedures and documentation.
  • Ensure effective communication and shift-to-shift continuity across warehouse locations.


Continuous Improvement & Systems Enablement



  • Lead enterprise-level continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Kaizen, and operational excellence tools.
  • Identify and implement process improvements that enhance productivity, accuracy, service, and cost performance.
  • Serve as the business owner and ERP Champion for all warehousing-related system initiatives.
  • Participate in WMS issues identification, selection, implementation, and optimization in partnership with IT and external vendors.


Safety, Quality & Compliance Governance



  • Establish and enforce safety standards, training programs, and behaviors in accordance with company policies and OSHA requirements.
  • Maintain audit readiness and ensure compliance with company policies, customer requirements, and regulatory expectations.
  • Promote and sustain a positive work environment that reinforces team engagement and safe work practices.


Financial & Performance Management



  • Own Finished Goods warehouse operating budgets, including labor, equipment, storage, and material handling expenses.
  • Develop, monitor, and communicate key performance indicators, dashboards, and operational metrics tied to enterprise goals.
  • Partner closely with senior leadership to align warehouse execution with customer commitments and financial targets.
  • Identify and deliver cost-reduction, productivity, and efficiency improvements without compromising service or safety.


Stakeholder & Facility Management



  • Collaborate with Planning, Production, Customer Care, Transportation, and Operations teams to ensure seamless end-to-end execution.
  • Work with property management and leasing partners on facility-related matters impacting warehouse operations.
  • Provide timely, accurate responses to internal and external operational inquiries.
  • Support special projects and enterprise initiatives as required.

Safety



  • Recordable incident rate and overall safety audit performance.
  • Training completion and ongoing compliance with safety programs.
  • Demonstrated safety culture reflected through behaviors, reporting, and engagement.


Quality & Compliance



  • Finished Goods inventory accuracy and integrity within the ERP system.
  • Product damage, loss, and shrink performance.
  • Continuous audit readiness and successful internal, customer, and regulatory audits.
  • Timely and accurate completion of all inventory transactions.


Service & Customer Performance



  • On-Time, In-Full (OTIF) delivery performance.
  • Shipment accuracy, order fulfillment throughput, and network service reliability.
  • Consistent achievement of shipping goals through accurate, timely processing of all outbound orders.


Cost & Productivity



  • Labor productivity and cost per unit shipped.
  • Overtime management and control of fixed warehouse operating costs.
  • Measurable cost savings and efficiency gains delivered through continuous improvement initiatives.


Culture, Leadership & Continuous Improvement



  • Engagement, development, and retention of warehouse leadership teams.
  • Leadership bench strength and succession readiness.
  • Participation and impact of continuous improvement activities across warehouse operations.
  • Establishment of a high-performance culture with clear accountability and results orientation


QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:



  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience required.


REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:



  • Knowledge of D365 ERP system
  • Solid analytical skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated results in improving warehouse productivity
  • Lean manufacturing certification in warehouse management a plus
  • Hazmat Certification required
  • Cycle Count processes and procedures


EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:



  • 10 plus years of warehouse management experience.


SKILLS/ABILITIES:



  • Possess good communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Handles conflicts in professional manner
  • Critical thinking, problem solving, and reasoning abilities
  • Willing to work overtime and weekends as required
  • Ability to manage and track expenses related to fuel, storage, and truck maintenance.
  • Willing to train on cGMP requirements and company policies and procedures


WORKING CONDITIONS



  • No hazardous or significantly unpleasant conditions


SALARY RANGE



  • $175,000 - $190,000 annually, plus bonus
