Rutgers University-Newark (RU-N), an urban public research university and anchor institution located in Newark, New Jersey, a city of promise is seeking a Laboratory/Technical Assistant Casual. Reporting to the Principal Investigator (PI), this Laboratory/Technical Assistant Casual will monitor and provide care to animals under experimental conditions to further the research of the Holly Laboratory in the Center for Molecular and Behavioral Neuroscience ( CMBN).
This position is responsible for and not limited to the following:

  • Performing neurological examinations on experimental animals
  • Assisting in genotyping
  • Performing histological processing
  • Preparing laboratory solutions
  • Monitoring stock levels of laboratory reagents



The position is dependent on adequate external funding.
FLSA Nonexempt
Salary Details $15.92 to $30.00 per hour

Qualifications






Minimum Education and Experience
Requires a Bachelor's degree in a scientific/technical discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and/or relevant laboratory technician or research study experience carrying out research protocols and tests, or other technical work may be substituted for the degree.

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Previous laboratory experience
Equipment Utilized
  • Regular use of laboratory equipment, including vibratome, scales, stirrers, pH meter, and knows or will learn any and all equipment, software, and specialized materials needed to support the effective and efficient performance of this position
Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Laboratory environment
  • Must be able to transport animal cages from the animal facility to the laboratory and back
