Job Description




As a Security Officer - Government Building Patrol in Reno, NV, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Government, and more. As a Patrol Unarmed Security Officer at a government location, you will monitor and patrol assigned areas, conduct routine rounds, and stay visible to help to deter security-related incidents. You will respond to concerns, document observations, and provide clear, professional communication and customer service. Position Type: Part Time, with ability to pick up additional shifts.

Pay Rate: $21.80 / Hour

What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to personnel and visitors at a government location by carrying out site-specific procedures, access control practices, and/or emergency response activities as directed by post orders.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including reporting concerns through the appropriate chain of command.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols of buildings, grounds, parking areas, and perimeter areas to help to deter unauthorized activity and identify security-related hazards or unusual conditions.
  • Monitor and document activity during patrols and post assignments, completing written reports and logs in accordance with site requirements.
  • Control entry points and verify authorization for access, directing visitors to proper check-in locations and/or escort procedures when required.
  • Observe CCTV and/or alarm systems where assigned, and communicate observed issues to site representatives and Allied Universal leadership.
  • Provide assistance during emergencies such as medical situations, evacuations, severe weather, and/or facility incidents, following site instructions and coordinating with responding agencies when needed.
  • Support orderly operations by enforcing site rules and regulations as directed, including addressing policy violations in a professional manner and requesting additional support when appropriate.
  • Perform security-related inspections of doors, gates, and other access points during patrols, reporting maintenance or operational concerns.
  • Communicate clearly with coworkers, site personnel, and the public, using radios, phones, and/or other approved methods to relay timely information.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Have at least 6 or more months of security-related experience.
  • Be 21 or more years of age.
  • CPR and/or First Aid certification is preferred and may be completed post hire.
  • Handcuffs and/or pepper spray and/or baton experience is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
