Under general supervision of the Contracts & Grants Supervisor, provide financial analysis and serve as compliance office for the Department of Surgical and Radiological Sciences. Serve as a resource to the CAO, Vice-Chair and Department Chair. Conduct financial analysis, effort reporting and participate in the financial planning for a wide variety of contracts and grants. Gather, manage and analyze financial data from a variety of revenue streams, including state general funds, state and federal grants, private grants, gifts, and other funding sources. Monitor and maintain departmental and research accounts associated with the annual operating budget. Department compliance expert on University policy and procedure for all departmental business processes. Assist the CAO in long-range financial planning and forecasting. Responsible for pre- and post-award processes, budget preparation, analysis and forecasting on complex budgets. Serve as back-up to VSR Contract and Grant Analysts in all similar areas.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position
- College degree or equivalent experience.
- Experience in financial analysis, forecasting and strategic planning to analyze and compile financial data and reports.
- Experience in budget preparation based on research plans.
- Experience managing and monitoring multiple accounts/projects.
- Experience in the use of financial management software.
- Knowledge of federal, state and private compliance regulations governing use of grant funds.
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Standards.
- Analytical skills to independently assume responsibility for complex projects with strong customer service skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to clearly and effectively interact with people of varying ages and cultural backgrounds, in person and in writing; ability to clarify situations and resolve problems; ability to exercise tact and diplomacy, especially to resolve disagreements and conflicts.
Preferred Qualifications
- BA/BS degree in accounting, finance, business or math.
- Experience managing and submitting NIH contracts & grants.
- Experience with Oracle Financial Systems.
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Campus Research Administration Certificate.

Department Overview
The Department of Surgical and Radiological Sciences (VSR) is housed within the School of Veterinary Medicine. It has over 61 Academic Senate faculty including 30 Instruction and Research Faculty and 31 Clinical Faculty. The department also has Federation members including 7 Health Sciences Clinical Professors. Additionally, there are numerous recalls, adjunct, volunteer and emeriti faculty as well as numerous other academic and student appointments including postdocs. There are 10 laboratory staff, 5 administrative staff and one staff veterinarian.

Work Environment
