BlackSky is seeking interns for the Summer 2026 term to support teams across engineering, analytics, mission operations, and business functions. This posting represents a general interest internship application, and candidates will be matched to specific teams based on skills, academic background, interests, and business needs. Applicants will be asked to indicate areas of interest, technical skills, and graduation timing to assist with team matching. Submission of this application does not guarantee placement on a specific team but allows candidates to be considered for multiple internship opportunities at BlackSky.

As an intern at BlackSky, you will work alongside experienced engineers, analysts, operators, and business professionals on real projects that support live systems, products, and missions. Interns are expected to contribute meaningfully to their teams while gaining exposure to how space-based intelligence products are developed, deployed, and delivered to customers. Internship opportunities may exist on teams such as Software Engineering, Mission Planning and Satellite Operations, Image Processing and Computer Vision, Data Engineering and Analytics, Electrical/RF/Systems Engineering, Product Management, Supply Chain, Finance, Program Management, or People Operations.

This is a paid summer internship position. Roles may be based in Herndon, VA, Seattle, WA or Tukwila, WA and are typically hybrid, though some opportunities may be remote depending on the team.

Responsibilities will vary by team and role, but may include:



  • Supporting technical or business projects aligned with active team objectives.
  • Conducting analysis, research, or development work under the guidance of a mentor.
  • Assisting with data collection, processing, validation, or documentation.
  • Contributing to tools, scripts, reports, or workflows used by the team.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional partners including engineers, analysts, and program stakeholders.
  • Presenting findings or project outcomes to team members.
  • Other job-related duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications:



  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD program in a relevant field such as engineering, computer science, data science, aerospace, analytics, business, finance, or operations.
    Rising junior, senior, or graduate student status as of Summer 2026.
  • Ability to work full-time during the summer internship period.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply academic or project-based learning to real-world problems (e.g., coursework, research, labs, or prior internships).
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and work effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Prior internship, project, or research experience related to your area of interest.
  • Experience with programming languages, data analysis tools, or technical systems relevant to the role.
  • Interest in space systems, satellite operations, geospatial intelligence, or analytics.
  • Experience working on team-based projects or in a professional environment.
