Day & Zimmermann is seeking an experienced Manager, Subcontract Management & Governance to join our Project Delivery Team.

As a Manager, Subcontract Management & Governance here is the work you will do:

  • Identify, develop, manage, and maintain effective subcontract relationships to support successful project execution, ensuring alignment with cost, schedule, quality, and performance expectations. Identify scopes suitable for subcontracting and ensures early engagement to support competitive sourcing, negotiations, contract review and effective execution planning.
  • Have responsibility for subcontracting strategy, standards, governance, functional leadership, and oversight. Ensure consistency, talent development, and continuous improvement within the subcontract function
  • Lead the creation, execution, and administration of subcontracting activities from pre-award through close out phase (examples: pre-qualification efforts, negotiations, issuing RFP to pre-qualified bidders, support bid packages, summarize bid evaluations to support bases of estimate pricing, ensure subcontract strategy is in project execution plan) and documentation in accordance with prime contract requirements, driving compliance, prime contract flowdowns and disciplined execution.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure subcontractor work aligns with client requirements, project schedules, and performance expectations, including active participation in project kickoff and status meetings.
  • Lead subcontractor issue resolution efforts, including dispute management, on-site problem resolution, and proactive risk mitigation, while communicating potential cost, schedule, or performance impacts in a timely manner. Capture lessons learned and implement process improvements.
  • Evaluate performance risks and mitigation strategies, and drive a results-oriented culture focused on process discipline, metrics, and accountability. Support internal and external audits related to subcontract administration



This role is for you if you have these skills/ qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, or a related field or relative field experience
  • 7+ years in subcontract management and EPC experience
  • In-depth knowledge of EPC subcontracting practices, contract terms and conditions, risk allocation, change management, and claims resolution, with the ability to align subcontract performance to prime contract requirements, cost objectives, and project schedules.
  • Strong analytical capability to evaluate data from multiple systems and sources, identify root causes, assess risk and opportunity, and develop effective, practical solutions in complex and dynamic project environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams and subcontractor partners within a matrixed organization, fostering collaboration, accountability, and alignment to achieve project and business objectives.
  • Proven ability to prioritize workload, manage competing internal and external demands, and make sound, timely decisions within delegated authority while supporting safe, compliant, and profitable project execution
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills combined with proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP systems (e.g., SAP), and a demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement, process optimization, and delivery of measurable results.



In compliance with this state's pay transparency laws, the salary range for this role is $124,080 - $ 186,120. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. (The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, schedule type, and the applicability of union fringes).
