Payroll Specialist
Location: Red Bank, NJ (Onsite, will allow 1 day working from home)

Our client is seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to support a high-volume, multi-state payroll environment. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented payroll professional with strong system expertise and the ability to manage complex payroll processes while partnering closely with HR and Finance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process a weekly payroll cycle for approximately 1,500 hourly and salaried employees

  • Utilize ADP and UKG payroll systems to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing

  • Ensure accurate processing, reconciliation, and recordkeeping of multi-state payroll

  • Create and deliver ad-hoc wage and management reports, including workers' compensation reporting

  • Administer and validate payroll deductions, including benefits, garnishments, and other employee contributions

  • Assist with year-end payroll activities, including W-2 preparation and distribution

  • Research and resolve escalated payroll issues and discrepancies in a timely manner

  • Analyze payroll data and investigate variances prior to payroll processing to ensure accuracy

  • Support HR and Finance with reporting, analysis, and special payroll-related projects

  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field

  • 3-5 years of payroll experience, preferably in a large, multi-state payroll environment

  • Extensive knowledge of payroll operations, including preparation, balancing, internal controls, and payroll taxes

  • Hands-on experience with ADP and UKG payroll systems (required)

  • Strong working knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll tax requirements

  • Proven ability to manage confidential information with discretion and accuracy

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills

Preferred Attributes
  • Experience supporting payroll for a high-volume employee population

  • Ability to work independently while collaborating cross-functionally

  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time-management skills
