Job Description




As a Security Officer - Gatehouse Access Control in Phoenix, AZ, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Logistics & Distribution, and more. As an Allied Universal Officer in a busy logistics and distribution location, you will manage access control by greeting drivers and employees, verifying credentials, monitoring entry points, and documenting activity. You will conduct routine patrols of assigned areas, stay visible to help to deter security-related incidents, and communicate clearly with site leadership. What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service by carrying out access control procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities at a logistics and distribution location.
  • Control entry and exit at gatehouse and/or lobby access points by verifying identification, credentials, and visitor authorization.
  • Process visitors, vendors, and contractors by issuing temporary badges, completing required logs, and providing site rules and directions.
  • Coordinate with warehouse operations and transportation contacts to confirm appointments for inbound and outbound drivers and trailers prior to granting access.
  • Conduct vehicle and/or trailer checks as required by post orders, including documentation review and reporting of irregularities.
  • Monitor CCTV, alarms, and access control systems; document observations and communicate issues to the appropriate contacts.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including radio communications and dispatching assistance as needed.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols around the business and perimeter to help to deter unauthorized activity; working environments and conditions may vary by location.
  • Complete detailed reports of daily activities, incidents, and policy exceptions; maintain accurate logs for vehicles, visitors, and deliveries.
  • Support emergency procedures such as evacuations, severe weather actions, and medical response notifications per site-specific instructions.
  • Provide directions and de-escalation support for individuals who may be confused, frustrated, and/or noncompliant, escalating concerns through the chain of command when needed.
  • Participate in required training and follow Allied Universal standards, post orders, and customer requirements.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Have at least 1 year of security-related experience.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
