Job Description




As a Security Officer - Armed Municipal Patrol in Los Angeles, CA, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Government, and more. As an Armed Patrol Officer with Allied Universal at a government location, you will monitor and patrol assigned areas, maintain a strong visible presence, and help to reduce security-related incidents. You will conduct routine patrols, respond to concerns, and support access control while delivering clear communication and exceptional customer service. What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to site personnel and visitors by following Allied Universal procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities at a government location.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including contacting appropriate public agency resources and/or site leadership as directed by post orders.
  • Conduct regular and random armed patrols of buildings, corridors, parking areas, and the perimeter to help to deter unwanted activity and identify security-related concerns.
  • Control access at assigned entry points by verifying identification, processing visitors, and directing traffic flow in accordance with site requirements.
  • Monitor alarms, radios, and government facility communications as assigned, and report unusual activity, hazards, and/or suspicious behavior through the appropriate channels.
  • Perform security-related screening and bag checks when assigned, consistent with site policies and applicable local requirements.
  • Complete routine logs, incident reports, and shift documentation with accurate details, including times, actions taken, and notifications made.
  • Provide visible armed presence while maintaining professional conduct and customer service, and maintain required certifications and authorized equipment in accordance with Allied Universal and site guidelines.
  • Support evacuations, lockdowns, and other emergency procedures as directed, assisting with accountability and controlled movement of personnel.
  • Coordinate with local law enforcement and/or on-site public agency partners when needed, relaying observations and following direction from designated authorities and post orders.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Have at least 2 years of security-related experience.
  • Possess an armed guard card and/or license.
  • Provide proof of a high school diploma and/or GED as required by the client.
  • Be comfortable using a computer and/or tablet preferred.
  • Be at least 21 years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Participate in industry-specific security training programs.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
