Your Role at Cabot
Cabot is looking for a Quality Engineering Lab Superintendent to join their team in the Pampa, TX plant location. This person is responsible for developing and implementing programs that ensure quality analytical data is provided to both internal and external customers. How You Will Make an Impact
* Ensure a safe work environment for all affected employees and PPE requirements are met
* Ensure procedures are safe, current, adequate, maintained and followed
* Ensures that testing of raw material, in-process, and finished material samples is carried out accurately and efficiently to produce high quality test results that meet customer expectations of timeliness and accuracy
* Ensures that current methods are being used by all personnel to help reduce test variation
* Ensure incidents and near misses are reported and investigated and the causes are addressed
* Ensure employees are properly qualified, produce quality results and staffing levels are appropriate
* Ensure employees are trained and competent in performing necessary test procedures
* Ensures appropriate documentation and reporting of procedures and test results
* Conduct performance appraisals
* Manage the employee schedule, ensuring bucking room and assay laboratory coverage is maintained
* Ensure that analytical equipment is in good operating condition. This can be achieved either by in-house PMs, OEM PMs, or by services available on site.
* Conduct discussions with Manufacturers and Suppliers to procure equipment, supplies, and services
* Contributes to the resolution of customer complaints through analytical work
* Contributes toward overall quality by continuous monitoring of quality levels and through close cooperation with manufacturing management. Recommends improvements to standard procedures
* Maintain adequate QA/QC programs
* Maintain the Radiation Safety Program to ensure compliance with Federal Regulations
* Analyzes, evaluates and plans methods to resolve varied technical problems. Works to the resolution of customer problems. Tracks and investigates details behind external customer complaints and internal non-conformances to assure effective root cause determination and communicate this information appropriately.
* Implements sound quality practices in manufacturing and in the laboratory, including Statistical Process Control and Statistical Quality Control. Implements methodologies to ensure adequate monitoring and control of critical process variables and test methods that impact product properties, specifications, and performance (at customer locations).
* Supports and implements local site for improvements regarding QA, QC and laboratory activities in the plant, target with manufacturing and regional quality group specific quality goals/gaps and identify/prioritize statistical methods to resolve problems. Leads continuous improvement activities in the lab.
* Monitors and reports efforts to resolve customer complaints. Develops and maintains operation of the Corrective Action Request System. Develops plan to teach and monitor the use of manufacturing statistical tools for problem solving and decision-making in the plant.
* Provides leadership to Quality department to achieve quality and plant goals.
* Supports Quality Manager in ISO audits (internal and external).
* Supports efforts to implement and maintain the Responsible Care Management System in line with the requirements of the RC14001 technical specification, as applicable to the site/region.
* Monitor monthly Laboratory costs and Variance Reports along with any other reports as required.

What You Will Bring to Cabot
* Comprehensive understanding of laboratory safety issues. knowledge of accident/near-miss investigation/reporting procedures.
* Knowledge and understanding of Cabot's Visions and Values
* Capable of working with consultants and customers to develop new product testing protocols
* Capable of managing personnel scheduling and workload flow so customer requirements are met
* Accuracy / Attention to Detail. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills in order to gather, analyze and draw well-reasoned conclusions.
* Knowledge in QA/QC testing procedures and techniques, laboratory procedures and equipment; Statistical Process Control. Understanding of product uniformity/variation. Knowledge of laboratory equipment safe use, calibration and maintenance. Knowledge of Lab Information Management systems (LIMS); material safety data sheets; ISO compliance.
* Bachelor's degree in technical discipline (STEM)
* Minimum 5 years relevant experience
* 2 years supervisory experience preferred
* Proficiency with - MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, )
