A Day in the Life of an Occupational Therapist - Hospital

As an Occupational Therapist at our hospital, you will conduct detailed patient evaluations using a variety of tests and measurements to assess their physical and cognitive capabilities. Your role involves crafting personalized care plans, setting achievable goals over short and long term, and deciding on therapeutic activities tailored to each patient's needs, which might include the creation of orthotic devices and teaching daily living skills. Challenges in this role include adapting therapy to meet diverse patient needs and managing emotional stress from patient struggles. You will work closely with an interdisciplinary team, contributing to patient care conferences to discuss and adapt ongoing treatment plans. Your job also encompasses administrative duties like maintaining detailed patient records, managing therapy supplies, and ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations.
