The Office of the Chief Data Officer is seeking a Senior Director of Software Engineering, to take over one of Jack Henry's most important flagship products, with a large engineering team, and help to modernize the application by accelerating velocity and updating to more modern development practices-all in the pursuit of strengthening the technology foundation that powers our future. If you're a core processing expert, who is also energized by building modern solutions and driving large scale transformations, we'd love to meet you.

This position may be worked remotely within the United States, with the exception of California. All positions, regardless of location, may require an onsite interview or in-person onboarding requirement to verify your identity.

What you'll be responsible for:

  • Overall responsibility for the organization's strategy and vision for technology acquisition, design and support. Recommends software and hardware solutions to ensure continual development of strategy and functionality. Determines practicality of ideas based on projected costs and sales potential.
  • Through subordinate managers:
    1. Plans and leads the development of new software products, enhancements, and customizations.
    2. Collaborates with Quality Assurance and Documentation to ensure that quality standards are met and that appropriate documentation is created.
    3. Coordinates work and services with other IS departments, contract service providers, and vendors.
  • Develops policies and standards aimed at minimizing costs related to the development and improvement of software products.
  • Engages in a proactive manner with internal IT customers to understand and support current and long-term IT needs.
  • Oversees additional activities such as information security, database administration and systems/network administration, or managing hardware environments.
  • May serve as an expert on software architecture and programming principles, and serve on Product Review Committees, Technology Review Committees and/or other committees, as required.
  • May perform other job duties as assigned.

What you'll need to have:

  • Minimum 15 years of experience in Software Development with established bank or credit union core software systems.
  • Minimum of 10 years of leadership experience.
  • Broad experience within financial services.

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Expert writing and communication skills.
  • Expert project management skills.
  • Expert leadership, organizational, decision-making, and analytical skills.
  • Expert knowledge of company products and services.
  • Ability to remain knowledgeable of evolving trends in IT and recommends changes in equipment, systems and processes as necessary.
  • Ability to oversee the analysis, design, development and maintenance of software solutions. Guides development efforts toward solving industry needs.
  • Ability to meet aggressive deadlines and handle multiple and complex projects
