Perform complex coding and compliance reviews to ensure charge process and chargemasters are up to date and working appropriately. Work on special projects for the Revenue Integrity Department to comply with federal and state regulations as well as internal hospital policies.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Assigned the responsibility of chargemaster management for Northside Hospital System including the following:

  1. Coordinate projects within the department related to new regulations or changes in guiding policies.
  2. Coordinate complex revenue modeling and analysis.
  3. Assist Department Manager and other Management staff with research on coding and compliance regulations.
  4. Assist with onboarding new departments and or groups within the hospital organization.
  5. Assist with setting up policies, procedures, and charge sheets for the department as needed.
  6. Coordinate education sessions on accurate coding, compliance & charging process.
  7. Initiate audits as needed to monitor charge accuracy and compliance for all NSH entities.
  8. Monitor charge compliance initiatives as they relate to both government and non-government payors.
  9. Act as a subject matter expert with key new services/projects.
  10. Help resolve larger issues that come up within specific departments Revenue Integrity supports.

REQUIRED

  1. Bachelor degree, preferably in Nursing, Health Information Management, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration. Ten (10) years of relevant work experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree.
  2. Five (5) of related work experience.

PREFERRED

  1. Consulting experience.
  2. Coding or nursing credential (RHIA, RHIT, CPC, CCS, RN).
  3. Experience in training, education or ability to coordinate and collaborate effectively with various personnel on projects.
  4. Meaningful experience with reimbursement methodologies for major payors.
  5. In-depth understanding of the function of the Chargemaster as well as revenue, CPT and HCPCS coding.
  6. Good analytical and communication skills.
  7. Demonstrated knowledge of computers and micro computer applications.
  8. Five (5) to ten (10) years of chargemaster experience.
  9. Five (5) to ten (10) years of MS Excel experience.
  10. Experience using SQL to extract data from established data warehouse.
