Job Description




As a Security Officer - College Patrol in Chicago, IL, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Education, and more. As an unarmed Patrol Officer at a higher-education location, you will monitor and patrol assigned areas, complete routine rounds, and remain visible to help reduce security-related incidents. You will respond to calls, assist students, staff, and visitors with courteous customer service, and communicate clearly with your team. What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service by carrying out security-related procedures, campus site-specific policies, and/or emergency response activities as appropriate.
  • Conduct regular and random foot and/or vehicle patrols of academic buildings, residence areas, parking locations, and perimeter points to help to identify unusual activity, hazards, and/or policy violations.
  • Respond to incidents, alarms, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, coordinating with campus stakeholders and/or public responders as directed by post orders.
  • Control access and monitor entry points as assigned, verifying identification and/or authorization, assisting with visitor directions, and documenting access activity per site policy.
  • Complete detailed reports on patrols, incidents, and observations, and communicate timely updates to Allied Universal leadership and site contacts using approved reporting tools.

Minimum Requirements:

  • The client requires proof of a high school diploma or GED.
  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • Customer service experience is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
