OVERVIEW:

The Ministry Leader is responsible for providing spiritual leadership and pastoral care within the Corps. This role emphasizes relational ministry, spiritual development, and the delivery of meaningful religious services and discipleship programs for all age groups. The Ministry Leader ensures alignment with Salvation Army doctrine and values while managing the spiritual and operational aspects of the Corps.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Conduct Salvation Army religious services: Sunday School, Worship Meetings, Bible Study, Prayer Meetings, Open-Air Meetings, and Council Meetings.
  • Lead and coordinate discipleship and spiritual growth programs for children, youth, and adults.
  • Provide pastoral care through home and shut-in visits.
  • Promote and support special events and spiritual activities.
  • Oversee all fundraising activities including holidays, donor engagement in coordination with DHQ Development, and requests to grants/foundations.
  • Represent The Salvation Army in community and interfaith engagements.
  • Supervise staff and volunteers with a focus on spiritual development and mission alignment.
  • Maintain statistical and spiritual program reports.
  • Attend and contribute to staff and administrative meetings.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:



  • Must be a solider of The Salvation Army and must be able to wear a Salvation Army uniform while on duty. Must be committed to The Salvation Army mission, ministry, and aligned theologically.
  • College degree or ministry certificate in leadership, or equivalent ministry experience preferred.
  • Salvation Army soldier in good standing for over one year.
  • Thorough knowledge of The Salvation Army beliefs, practices, and USA programs.
  • Must be at least 21 years old with a valid driver's license and clean driving record.

  • Strong leadership and supervisory experience.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Crisis intervention and emotional support skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with staff and community partners.
  • Organized and detail-oriented.
  • Fluent in Spanish and English.
  • Computer literacy in MS Office.
  • Ability to work with diverse age groups.
  • Program planning and sustainability expertise.
  • Must pass a criminal background check.
  • Knowledge of local community resources.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and respond calmly in crisis situations.

  • Office equipment (photocopiers, scanners, calculators)


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:



  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Ability to operate phones and computers and comprehend written information.
  • Must be able to drive a vehicle.

  • Communicate professionally with co-workers, clients, vendors, and the public.
