Overview:

The Pipeline Superintendent oversees all field operations for midstream oil and gas pipeline construction projects. This role is responsible for executing work safely, efficiently, and in compliance with project specifications, regulatory requirements, and company standards. The Superintendent leads field crews, coordinates with inspectors and subcontractors, and ensures work is completed on schedule and within budget.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Oversees day-to-day construction activities for midstream pipeline installations, tie-ins, repairs, road bores, station work, and facility connections.
  • Develops and communicates daily/weekly work plans to foremen and crews.
  • Reviews project drawings, specs, and alignment sheets to ensure proper execution.
  • Coordinates mobilization of equipment, materials, and personnel to job sites.
  • Enforces all company, client, and OSHA safety policies on site.
  • Conducts daily Job Safety Analysis {JSA) meetings, toolbox talks, and hazard assessments.
  • Ensures crews follow proper PPE use, trench safety, confined space, rigging, and hot work requirements.
  • Immediately addresses unsafe behaviors, conditions, and near-misses.
  • Provides direct supervision to foremen, equipment operators, welders, laborers, and subcontractors.
  • Assigns tasks, monitors productivity, and adjusts crew resources based on shifting job needs.
  • Trains and mentors team members, promoting skill development and accountability.

  • Serves as the primary point of contact for clients, inspectors, landowners, and project managers.
  • Provides detailed daily reports including manpower counts, equipment usage, progress updates, quantities, and delays.
  • Attends project meetings and relays updates to leadership and field teams.
  • Tracks production rates to ensure the project stays on schedule.
  • Monitors fuel usage, equipment hours, material quantities, and subcontractor performance.
  • Identifies potential cost impacts and notifies project management before issues escalate.
  • Coordinates deliveries of pipe, fittings, skids, mats, safety supplies, and rental equipment.
  • Ensures equipment is maintained, inspected, and operating safely.
  • Manages dig permits, one-calls, ROW access, and environmental protection measures.
  • Resolves conflicts and unforeseen issues in the field with minimal downtime.
  • Adapts to changing terrain, weather, landowner restrictions, and technical challenges.
  • Keeps crews productive and maintains project momentum at all times.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Leads and directs employees in field operations for midstream oil and gas pipeline construction projects.

Education and/or Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 7 years Midstream/Oil and Gas pipeline experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to read blueprints, isometrics, and alignment sheets.
  • Knowledge of welding, coating, bending, ditching, lowering-in, hydrotesting, and restoration.
  • Commitment to safety and compliance.
  • Proficiency in production tracking, reporting, and scheduling.
