  • 8:00 am - 5:00 pm (Mon-Fri) Hybrid

Compensation

At S&C, we are dedicated to providing competitive and equitable compensation for all our team members, and we are committed to transparency in our pay practices. The estimated annual base salary range for this position is $87,758 - $116,825.18. Individual pay within this salary range is determined by several compensable factors, including performance, knowledge, job-related skills and experience, and relevant education or training. This role is also eligible for S&C's annual incentive plan (AIP), subject to eligibility criteria.

Join Our Team as a Senior Internal Communications Specialist!

The Senior Internal Communications Specialist is responsible for S&C Electric Company's internal communication activities and internal brand management. The position requires knowledge of how to combine creative and strategic thinking to reach and engage employees in a way that helps them understand how their work advances the company and their careers. The position requires an expert multi-tasker who is passionate about internal communications, has superb writing skills, is a strong project manager and detail-focused, and is comfortable working on a deadline. This role reports to the Senior Manager - Internal Communications and is based at S&C Electric Company headquarters in Chicago.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Communications: Implement impactful internal communication strategies and campaigns that align with strategic initiatives. Collaborate with team members across the business to ensure communication plans support project and function goals.
  • Content Development & Storytelling: Transform data and information into compelling stories that resonate with the internal audience.Write and develop content using a storytelling framework, ensuring clear and impactful messages.
  • Project and Campaign Support: Support the Internal Communications team in the execution of larger scale functional large-scale functional internal communication projects, working with project teams towards successful outcomes.
  • Internal Communications Channel Management: Maintain and optimize S&C's primary internal communication channels, including the intranet, broadcast email platform, digital screens, and bulletin boards/signage. Ensure content accuracy, timeliness, and alignment with brand standards. Regularly measure channel performance using analytics and feedback to track effectiveness, identify trends, and implement improvements that enhance engagement and reach.
  • Quarterly Publication Management: Lead content development for S&C's quarterly internal publication, serving as primary writer and editor. Oversee design, layout, and photo selection to deliver a polished, engaging publication that reflects company values and informs team members.
  • Video Production Support: Collaborate with the video team to develop internal videos, including safety moments, explainer videos, annual update video segments, interviews and more. Ensure the highest video standards and programs that align with strategy and resonate with team members for maximum business impact.
  • Communication Evaluations: Collaborate with department leadership to measure the effectiveness of communication efforts and adjust strategies as needed. Make recommendations and support the implementation of internal communications team operations.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay abreast of industry trends to help innovate and evolve communication channels and/or content ideas to further the effectiveness of internal communications.
  • Research & Support: Provide comprehensive support in researching, writing, proofreading, and editing to help ensure the quality output of all internal communications.
  • Brand Compliance: Understand and comply with all applicable content standards, brand guidelines, company policies, and rules.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
  • Attend in-person or virtual meetings as requested or required.
  • Communicate effectively and respectfully with others.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

What you'll Need To Succeed:

Required

  • BS degree in Communications, Marketing, English, Business, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of professional experience developing internal communication strategies and content with proven results.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of strategic communication and project management.
  • Ability to partner with Team Members from other departments and provide effective coaching on internal communications best practices.
  • Ability to develop compelling communications, with a particular emphasis on storytelling and messaging development.
  • Knowledgeable and able to leverage AI tools to enhance project and team efficiency while adhering to strict ethical guidelines, factual accuracy, transparency, and data privacy.
  • Familiarity with the AP style of writing.
  • Able to write and work quickly, be self-starting, and be punctual in preparing materials.
  • Good project management abilities, with superb writing and copyediting skills.
  • Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, listening, and presentation). Able to liaise with key stakeholders outside the marketing function and present compelling information and messaging to achieve buy-in.
  • Sound interpersonal skills to establish meaningful relationships built on mutual trust and respect, navigate and resolve conflict, moderate behaviors, and foster collaborative working relationships amongst a diverse audience.
  • Sound organizational and multitasking skills, with demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced working environment.
  • Great attention to detail with an analytical mindset and excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint, and a high level of proficiency with SharePoint.

Preferred

  • Experience working in a B2B company.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing company.
